Coral reef fin fish closure dates for 2012-2013:

?12 October to 16 October 2012, and 11 November to 15 November 2012

?2 October to 6 October 2013, and 31 October to 4 November 2013.

From midnight on Friday 11 November Queenslanders are reminded that all coral reef fin fish will again be off limits due to the coral spawning closure. This will be in place until midnight Wednesday 18 November, a five-day hiatus.

The closure coincides with the new moon period when a large number of coral reef fin fish spawn. The fishing ban helps protect fish through this important part of their life cycle.

Anyone caught with coral reef fin fish over this period will face a $400 on the spot fine.
