Southern NSW golden perch dam stocking scheduled

A major stocking of golden perch in dams across the southern parts of New South Wales is set to occur with the State's Department of Primary Industries scheduling a major restock for this month.

Major releases that can be expected include 80,000 fish in Burrinjuck, 75,000 fish in Blowering Dam and 50,000 fish in Lake Mulwala.  These numbers are dependant on the quantities of fish harvested from the Narrandera Fisheries Centre ponds but with the Centre harvesting between 1.5 and 2.5 million native fish a year it is expected the targets will be reached.

During the 2007-2008 season more than 6 million native fish and trout were stocked across the State under the NSW Government's fish restocking program and the community-based Dollar-for-Dollar native fish stocking program.
