WA's three week marron season commences
Western Australia's marron season commences at 12 noon, Sunday, 8 January and will continue for three weeks up until noon Sunday 8 February.
The freshwater crayfish are unique to Western Australia. In order to catch them anglers must be in possession of an up-to-date marron license and in some locations are required to abide by the perculiar catching style called 'snaring' involving looping a self-tightening snare on the end of a pole or stick around a marron's tail.
Size and bag limits differ depending on the locations fished so anglers should check the relevant regulations on the Fisheries website.
