Aussies Clean up at the KTA Kite racing final in China

Aussie Rider Jordan Girdis always looks like this...
We didn't win, but we sure made an impact on the top 10 at last weeks KTA pro tour final in Pingtan, China.

Winning the event was Narapichi Pudla, who according to the Aussies put on a really consistent performance, despite not quite being as fast in a straight line as the other guys. This consistency let him win the event with quite a margin over the others who suffered all kinds of mishaps from line breaks to unfortnate DSQ's.

Rounding out the Aussie contingent was Mr Jordan Girdis who showed that you don't have to be super light to keep up with the big dogs. He was followed closely by Marvin Baumeister who although is listed as German, we'll totally claim him as an Aussie. Then it was Matt Vandervoort, Ric Black and Dave Sorrenson finishing up in the top 10. That leaves half of the top guys from down under, and another two were from New Zealand (Torrin Bright and Ben Turner).

Not bad for a quick jaunt to China! As for the event, Ric Black, who's Australia's unofficial go-to guy for race management, said early in the week:

"They put on a great event here guys.
Really, beats me why more ozi's don't do some of the kta events especially the season ending event.
Freestyle, twin tip race and course race.

These guys are also running the course race worlds in November in another Chinese location. It will set the bar very high for anyone to follow. If you weren't planning on coming you should change your mind.
Accommodation will be in a brand new six star water sports resort. Look forward to a sneak peak early next week!"

He's pretty impressed, and after seeing how the event was run, we are too! Congratulations to the Aussies who made the trek over there for the racing, and look out for the rest of the footage that's popping up on the Seabreeze.com.au Forums - check it out here!
