Triple S Wildcard Entries open, invited list jammed!
Last years Triple S went OFF. This years will be bigger!
People like Andre Phillip, Jason Slezek and Aaron Hadlow were all sure to be on the list, everyone can't wait to see what kites Dre is riding (although it's rumoured he's been picked up by Slingshot). And we havn't seen much of Aaron in the last few month either, has he been taking a break or just training hard?
Then there's the new guys, and girls - lots of girls in fact. Bruna, Claire, Karolina, Moona just to name a few. In recent years the girls have held their own on the obstacles, strapping on the boots and showing the boys that it's not that hard! Already there's a couple of girls going for the wild card entry's too, to check out those videos and get ready for all the girly action shots that will be around in June.
So the event itself, is one of the biggest of the kitboarding calendar. It's over in the US and showcases both surf riding and wakestyle disciplines through the use of some MASSIVE obstacles that must have cost Real watersports a fortune. Of course it's all heavily sponsored, and with the publicity it generates it's all probably worth it for those who put the dollars into getting the things made.
Everyone wants to go, already the internet is being flooded with wildcard entries from all levels of riders, hoping that they'll get noticed by the judges and get that elusive invite! Just search 'Triple S Wildcard 2013' in YouTube or Vimeo and you'll get to see them all, but we'll bring you the highlights as they pop up.
Also exciting, is that the Triple S is usually when we start to see the first pictures of the 2014 gear! While the riders hide it all away inside board bags and keep it under lock and key, they can't hide it while they're riding it! So if you're keen on seeing what's in store from the big brands next year, keep your eyes peeled for the Triple S pics and take note of the gear on show.
The event kicks off on the first of June and runs for 7 days. We'll bring you all the action, highlights and videos when they appear.
