At the P1 SuperStock Championship's Hull Grand Prix of the Sea, the new Peters & May crew of Daniel Cramphorn and Kim Collins took a dominating win in the P1 250 Panther class during the opening race on Saturday, 30th July.
Despite cool temperatures, crowds flocked to Hull Marina to witness Britain's top stars of Powerboat racing in action and they weren't disappointed with a thrilling encounter which was led until lap five by Pertemps crew John Wilson and Neil Scarborough - who had earlier won the Match Racing time trial.
Wilson and Scarborough still lead the provisional standings, albeit by a reduced margin of 10 points, with their second place while third went to the Edox crew of Rupert Pugh and Anthony Crossley.
'Once you get in a bit of clean water you can take the turns how you want to and that's what we managed to do from about halfway through', said Cramphorn, 'When we started to come up to lap the 150s we saw our opportunity, ducked up the inside and pulled out a bit of distance. Really enjoyed that race, it was good fun.'
In P1 150, Team Purple continued its outstanding season with yet another victory - the third of the season for Stuart and Sara Cureton - ahead of Rose Lores and Tom Hunter in Eclipse. The P1 150 podium was rounded out by MacDonald Mermaid, piloted by David and Kirsty Toozs-Hobson.
The stars of P1 SuperStock will be back in action on the Humber tomorrow evening, Sunday, 30 July, with P1 150 Match Racing scheduled to start at 17.30 followed by the second of the weekend's Enduro encounters featuring racers from both categories - P1 250 and P1 150.
