See what a $4 million Boat Designed by Bugatti Looks Like.
The line of boats is called the Niniette, eluding to a nickname Ettore Bugatti gave his daughter Lidia and harking back to the 1900's when he was actually designing boats in the first place. This latest offering from the Volkswagen owned car manufacturer has only the name connecting it to Bugatti's original designs, with the Palmer Johnson signature style very evident in the raked bow and intake-like contours forming a trimaran design towards the stern of the boat.
Priced in the ballpark of $4 million AUD, the boat is primarily designed to cruise around in idyllic bays and amongst the floating mansions of the Mediterranean. There are three planned models, PJ63, PJ42, and PJ88, measuring from 13m long and suitable as a tender for some of the larger superyachts, to 27m. Which could be considered somewhat of a super yacht itself! Constructed from carbon fibre and morta oak,
"Bugatti and Palmer Johnson share outstanding lightweight design expertise." Explains Dr. Stefan Brungs, Bugatti's Sales and Marketing guy. "Inspired by Bugatti's design DNA, Palmer Johnson has created not only an incredibly elegant and beautiful yacht but also a masterpiece of craftsmanship featuring carbon fiber, titanium and precious wood. This collector's item will thrill maritime aficionados.".
Like Bugatti himself, Palmer Johnson has been around for a long time. Starting out back in the 1900's by repairing fishing boats and rowing skiffs, they have since grown to cater exclusively for the 1%. Most yachts that slip into the water at their shipyard measure in excess of 45m long, and none, not one would be priced under a million bucks. The upper end of their range, priced in the hundreds of millions, is the 72m SuperSport, so when Bugatti say their little tender is only a miniscule 4 million, you can sort of see where they're coming from from…
