Catamaran crossing bar in Hawaii - destroyed on rocks!
Over the very same weekend, life was happening elsewhere on the island. The crew on board this catamaran were having a great day on the water, the sunset was spectacular and vibes were good. But when it came time to get home, things turned ugly fast, as the bar proved (yet again) that it's a force not to be reckoned with.
Watch as this nice little cruising catamaran gets picked up by a wave and hurled towards the rocks. First, it nearly capsizes as the wave pushes it sideways, then unfortunately for the skipper, it straightens out and lines up right for the biggest, sharpest bank of rocks possible. With a huge crunching noise that makes the sailor in all of us cringe, the hulls are crushed and the boat left high and dry on the rocks. Onlookers are quick to call for help, but it's already too late for the catamaran.
