The Transat Jacques Vabre is currently set to get underway tomorrow (Sunday) but, with stormy conditions that are due to the passage of a deep depression, which is forecast for early next week, particularly on Tuesday and Wednesday, the race director Jean Maurel, has decided to convene a meeting with the sailors tomorrow morning (Sunday) to discuss with them the possible postponement of the start which is scheduled for Sunday at 1302hrs CET.
The decision will be announced at 0930hrs at the weather briefing. 'The competitors are expressing their belief that the forecast conditions are severe and I share their opinion. It is true that for three days, the weather files have been bad with such a big sea. Based on this information, I am starting to consider delaying the start,' said Jean Maurel this evening.
