One of the first rules an instructor will tell you in a SUP lesson, is to always wear a leggy. But a couple of Aussie paddlers who chose not to wear one paid the price in this weeks Huntington Pro, in California.

Jake and Jacko, two of the biggest characters in the Aussie SUP scene can be observed in the picture above. Yeah, those boards that are vertical and upside down. That’s them, and you can guess where the boards ended up!

Angie Jackson was on the beach watching her husband (Paul (Jacko) Jackson) and had this to say in the stand up paddling forums.

“Neither Jake or Jacko had leggies on. When us girls noticed a fanatic board floating all the way back in we all started laughing "Ang is that Jackos board?!" Hahaha and yes it was DOH. Always learning lessons I guess. Poor jacko left the beach last place and played catch up but never gave up.” Even admitting to being he cause of the carnage: “The only reason jacko had no leggie is cos I took it!”

Ah well, Jacko can’t win ‘em all!

Congratulations to all the Aussie paddlers who competed in the Huntington Beach Pro, look out for them all in the Finals at Turtle Bay, Oahu in October.
