Aussie SUP Team Announced - 2015 ISA Worlds.
Some are calling the American and Hawaiian teams ‘uber squads’ but we think the Australian Team is pretty ‘uber’ itself!
Going for a fourth straight Team Trophy in 2015, the Australian Team stars some stand up paddling royalty, with a good mix of new talent and experienced paddlers to bring it home once again.
Leading the team will be Beau Nixon, himself our main man when it comes to stand up paddle surfing, accompanied by mate and rival – Jackson Close. These two take turns in the number one position all around Australia in the surfing discipline, and have shown on several occasions they can mix it up with the best in the world. This is going to be one of those occasions, because they’re up against the likes of Zane Schweitzer and Mo Freitas!
Still in the surfing division, we come to new girl (at least to the ISA worlds) Emma Webb. She’s been setting Australian beachies on fire this summer, hoping to continue the trend in the Mexican city and show the world that she means business. The Womens surfing lineup is as action packed as the guys, with paddlers like Jenny Lee and Izzy Gomez also competing.
Moving to flat water, we see Aussie legend Beau O’Brien join Toby Cracknell competing in both Distance and Course Racing events, with Terrene Black doing the exact same thing for the girls. You’ve heard all three of those names before, because they spend as much time standing on podiums as they do training (which is a lot of time).
With the Hawaiin team entering in their first ISA SUP World championships, they’ve quite litterally assembled the best the country has to offer. Connor Baxter joins Zane Schweitzer and Mo Freitas to form the brunt of the team, interesting both Zane and Mo are competing in both the racing and the surfing events! Lets hope they have the stamina for it…
Good luck to the Aussie team on their way to the ISA World Championships in a months time, it all starts on May 10th in Sayulita, Mexico!
