How To Stop Your Feet From Cramping On A SUP
Ask any paddler. You're not alone, and you're not the first person to fall off a board because your foot has cramped up! Good news though, this annoying body function can be cured with a few technique adjustments on your next paddle session!
The guys from Blue Planet Surf have made this great little instructional clip to demonstrate what causes foot cramps on Stand up paddle boards, and it's mostly due to 'gripping the board' with your toes. Check out the video below, or follow these tips for stopping foot cramps on your SUP.
1: Relax your feet - Don't try to grip the board with your toes, it doesn't help! 2: Wiggle your toes - Try tapping your toes to the tune of that song you're humming. Doing so gets the blood going, and stops cramping. 3: Shift your weight from the front, to the back of your feet. That also gets the blood going, and can even give you more power in each stroke. 4: Shuffle around on the board - this helps get the boards 'trim' right from front-to-back, and can make turning easier, allow you to ride waves or lift the nose to 'beach' your SUP if you don't want wet feet.
