In a terribly unlucky heat last weekend, Tyler Wright found herself quite literally sitting on the fence at Cronulla, when she went down in a heat of the Australian Boardriders Battle.

Watch the clip below, where Tyler goes in for one last smack before the lip closes out on her. She’s being rolled by the whitewater, and all of a sudden the chainlink fence emerges right there in front of her. The fence is there for calmer days, where it surrounds a seawater pool for swimming, and is somewhat of an icon in the area.

Not only did she get washed up on it, her surfboard was inside the fence and prevented her from diving out to sea again. As you can imagine, the very next wave smashed her again, before she managed to get over the wall and await rescue by her brother – Owen Wright.

"For all those who have wished me well, love and a fast recovery, thank you. It seems to be working.” Said Tyler after being released from hospital. “I've been cleared of all spinal and nerve damage. Love to all the boys that helped me yesterday, understanding how hurt I was and not listening to me when I said I was fine. Haha!"
