Both are hopeless
It's only the endless babble on the last ten pages of the daily fish wrapping in Sydney and Melbourne plus the need for TV to meet local content requirements that keep the codes going
If they had to depend on gate takings to pay the players the AFL might have a small chance
One sticks thumbs up arses , the other doesn't. easy
Both codes luv the gear tho....
Which one is better? I can't decide...
You are obviously putting out the bait.
Nobody could be that stupid that they can't distinguish between a true mans sport and a bunch of pansies running around in tight shorts.
Just go for AFL mate.
We don't want you.
rugby union
if only they'd put it back on the tele
If only they'd take them both off free to air tele
Did the AFL boys have a float at Mardi Gras?
They might, but the mugby players have their own jail cells
Geez you are **** stirrer IKW777.
I am having lunch with your mum tomorrow, might talk to her about that sort of man she has raised.
whats better than STATE OF ORIGIN.
Pretty sure there's nothing better than State of Origin.

True. Especially those classics from the 80s when WA and the Vics went toe to toe and games were frequently neck and neck in the final quarter.
Hope they bring State of Origin back one day. But I guess when there is so much money invested in the players they are too valuable to risk. Now if they were only semi-professional like the rugby players, then we might see it again. Oh well. I guess it's the price we pay for such a sensational game.
Off topic, is there any difference between league and union? They look the same to me except League has scrims hey? Maybe if they combined the players from both codes it might be worth watching with more than one or two decent athletes per team. Fat blokes running in straight lines gets a bit boring after half an hour.

Oh. You meant rugby State of Origin! Lol. Nah that's too predictable. Doesnt the same team win 9 times out of 10? NSW win all the time don't they?
^^^ Are you saying there used to be an AFL State of Origin!? If that doesn't beat all... I thought it was a game only played by a small bunch of Vicco die-hards. Oh well, live and learn!
Hahaha AFL
i fall off my chair with laughter every year when ,the so called AUSTRALIAN team, plays Ireland.
AFL changes the rules & game so anybody will play with them.
they play with a round ball have goal keepers and soccer nets
wait for the AFL world cup when they use netball hoops…i can't wait

Except they call that game International Rules because they recognise it ain't AFL, nor is it Gaelic Football.

I believe rugby union/league copied the concept from the AFL in the 80s after the success of the games between Vicco, WA and SA. Nowadays when they run it, there are teams representing Queensland and NSW. They also have representative indigenous teams. It is a very broad representation of the Australian community. And growing in revenue and popularity Australia wide (includining NSW and Queensland) as it is a superb game. Hows rugby going? My impression was it sure isn't rocking it the way it was 20-30 years ago.

no league didn't copy AFL.
NSW has been playing QLD since 1908.
they changed the name to State of origin in 1980,
the main reason was a rule change,,,, you played for the state you played your first first grade game in.
why would League copy anything about the AFL ,,,IMHO AFL ****'d victorian football.

Well that's not State of Origin if they aren't playing for their state of origin is it?
BTW, 1977 was the first AFL State of Origin series. Mmmmm......
And yes, the AFL has decimated the VFL and WAFL, but the game is better for it.
