Not sure if this was shared or not, just thought i would post in case it slipped by. Just goes to show the thought process some big companies have about our environment and the people living in them these days.

Jeeesus, that story took a long time to appear here. If the BP exec had said it in private as an ironic statement about how the only thing that gets measured in an economy is money flows it would be understandable.
But to include it in the paperwork to seek drilling approvals is mind boggling!
Turning the destruction of nature into digital wealth is what the global market does best. Our consumption, only ever encouraged by those that propagate the news, is destroying the ability of the planet to sustain life, at an exponentially increasing rate.
We are essentially exchanging our long term future in order to create more rubbish. You would think that would be the news everyday rather than who f*cked who, literally or otherwise, in Canberra. We, and the entire world, are getting f*cked over every day.
Yeah an odd approach from BP for sure but they canned it as too hard in the end anyway. Maybe they were being ironic as they knew it would never get environmental approvals.
South Australia need not worry though as they can live vicariously off the north west shelf via GST handouts so no need for them to develop their own natural resources for a while yet.
good to see the government department pulled them up.
"the government authority had identified serious shortcomings with BPs environment plan"
BP thought they could just hide the shortcomings in a long winded report, make some political donations and get a stamp of approval. Seems this is very typical.
.It would be a fallacy to think BP will source local jobs and pay them big bucks . They will outsource to the cheapest **** unskilled labour To make more money. There not interested in you people of Australia or the environment. BP`s only driving force for this is profit!
