I remember in school being taught that a person's spam from fingertip to fingertip is usually within a centimetre or two of their height.
Did this measurement recently with my eldest, and my span is now over ten centimetres more than my height, I'm a fricking human orangutan!

Bigger span than height is quite normal. A positive ape index (>1) is advantageous for swimmers

One of the best windsurfers I know has super long arms ,seems to be able to manipulate sail position to his advantage.

I just have short hair legs.
What does that mean?

Sadly, I just measured mine at 14cm more than my height. It's sad what you do when you are bored, and the tape measure is handy... I have never used it for other bodily measurements... honest!

I had a work colleague that was another 4 or 5 inches taller than me. For some reason he thought he could hold something out of my reach one day and was surprised that I could take it from him. I think he was the opposite and had short arms for his height.

I guess this all goes to show. Nothing much.

I was reading something where they were saying that women have shorter legs compared to their torsos than men. I had thought the opposite, as I have often admired women with long legs, but either I am making a mistake or just selecting for girls with particularly long legs.

Women wear high heels, it's deceptive.
