The wife and I are looking to do a bit of sailing in Kayaks around the Lake Macquarie, Tuggerah Lake area. Are there any areas that you might recommend we have a look at. Also anywhere close by north or south of there that is worth a visit, Thanks. I know this isn't the sailing forum as we hoped for input from non sailors as well.
When are you coming over ? I live on Tuggerah Lake - nice part of the world. The Entrance is worth a stop at 3pm to see the penguins being fed if you are close by. Your only real issue is the wind as the Lakes are very shallow and can chop up pretty quickly and a bit of weed is around unfortunately. Can be mostly avoided though once you are out from shore. Recently we have had unseasonably late autumn conditions with lots of no or light wind days. And sometimes howling Southerlies - which bring lots of kite and windsurfer types to the Lake in front of home. The other place that I really like are the Myall Lakes National Park - just a few hours north of here. Here are a few sunset shots - we get lots of good sunsets here and after looking through my collection I have just realised that I take an awful lot of sunset shots! Just doing my bit for local tourism Drop me a PM if you are in the area.
A group of volunteers feed them everyday. They normally ask for a gold coin donation. If you have kids they will love it - as you get very close to them. We always take visitors down and they always enjoy the experience.
Well done all around Ted. Great sunset shots. Thanks for the heads up on the penguins. The Missus will be stoked.
I remember pelicans being fed at the Entrance, but have never seen the penguins being fed there. It must be relatively new.
Those penguins do have massive beaks though.
