I've just been trying to browse some foiling gear and every couple of minutes am getting pop up alcohol ads for vintage cellars. Super frustrating, they have a timer and count down from 4 to zero and the. You have to press "x" to get rid of them.
it will actively stop me using seabreeze (which may be a good thing as I spend hours on it!!).
I understand you need adverts to fund the site but these are too intrusive and detrimental to your site so please reconsider!
Cheers,
jonah.

I have never seen these and won't google them incase Google starts serving those ads up to me. I haven't seen them even a single time.

A lot of ads now are user-aware and serve ads up that are related to things you have searched for or things that have come up regularly on websites you have used. "Seabreeze" itself will not be choosing the ads that you see and instead some server somewhere is deciding it for you individually (usually).

I am not sure how to change this, but maybe try googling things that you are interested in and see if this changes the ads that you are presented with?

Try this and see if it helps you.

I didn't even know this existed until now, but when I opened up 'My Ad Center' it showed topics that I usually lookup, so it sounds like its the thing to look at. Check if those ads or categories are in there and see if you can reduce or remove them.

They were really disruptive yesterday. Nothing today.
Problem fixed?

I'm sure there are other sites that use algorithms to show ads relevant to what you've searched, but not sure thats what goes on here. I'm getting them too, and i've never searched anything alcohol related online, i just go to the shop.

Oh no, this is terrible.

Do they have discount codes ? Any chance you could post the discount codes here or just DM them to me ?. Also any coupons or vouchers they might be posting out.

Even on mobile I am getting ads for dominos pizzas and audible. Both oh which I have used in the past, but no alcohol.
You might be able to select the 'x' and tell google you don't want it.

These are different to the usual ad format and p!ssing me off too. brand new device with no search history and certainly not alcohol .. to have to wait to close it and can't scroll past is definitely a disincentive to using the site

I am clicking on the X to close every time and they're not getting the message

I've had the adverts including today and agree that the method is very annoying and puts me off even want to read the add. My aim is to get rid of it asap.
Yesterday it was so annoying I gave up reading SB.

You've got it backwards. Don't dismiss Laurie's page. Boycott the alcohol peddler. That'll learn 'em.

Yep, first world probs. I want to see the manager, right now.

lauries gotta fund the site some how, but they're very disruptive ads. Makes the user want to switch off instead.

When you say brand new device with no search history, you aren't using an Android phone with an existing account are you? The 'ad choices' will follow your account even if you have never used that device to search for those things.

I am curious though as its unusual enough for a few of you to be getting the same ads, so much so that it seems unlikely to be the ad history.

But of the ads I have seen, a Domino pizza one is pretty prominent too and waves all over the place, but at least it doesn't insist on making you wait like it seems the alcohol one does.

When I went to close the Audible ad, it was easy by clicking on the 'x', but the Dominoes one seemed a bit reluctant to accept it too.

It's funny, if they make these sort of ads too intrusive then surely it discourages anyone from even looking at them and then a demand for ad blockers.

I have my adblocker turned off for this site, and I'm not getting those ads here.
But I'm using firefox on linux, and see hardly any ads at all.
I just pointed chromium at this site and get loads of ads, mainly temu and skoda

I am still getting Domino pizza ads! I have only ever eaten them in Collie, so maybe they class you as an over-eater or over-drinker but not both?

It must be google ads though as when I looked at the mobile site every ad was a google-ad ad and you could cancel them. Google want their ads to be targeted at customers so that the advertisers get a better hit rate, so it wouldn't make sense to send the wrong ads. Maybe the age range gets certain ads sent to it based on age and gender?

These were not normal banner ads that we all get and scroll past. as per screenshots above, it was over the whole screen with a 3sec countdown in the top right before the X to close it would appear. Made the site virtually unusable. Not getting them today though
