Check the numbers before you talk rubbish. Solar PV provides a little over 1% of Australian electricity.

Yeah. Micro Solar PV is already cheaper electricity for new builds than retail coal and will become even cheaper as people start installing storage technologies. Coal is already out of the game strategically. It's only still there while solar and battery storage gets to critical capacity for 100% base load. Adelaide is already 100% base load solar PV on a sunny summer's day.

I love your enthusiasm and obviously hope you are right that we can rid the planet of this filthy coal addiction.... but....I seriously doubt your numbers.
A big movement away from coal-fired and towards gas-fired seems a likelier progression for cleaner energy then that will be followed - hopefully - by completely renewable and clean alternatives.
This will take decades.
Yes it's good to be enthusiastic, but we're only sea breeze after all, there's sure too be folks in the energy game who've looked into the economics and new technologies a lot more closely than us. They don't seem to be writing coal off yet. It'd be wise to get off coal, but I just can't see the coal industry as being full of blinkered, stupid people shuffling deck chairs on a sinking ship.
