I came across this site just then:

enron.com/pages/the-egg

20% enriched Uranium - not enough to make a weapon. Supplies 200 Amps for 10 years (I assume that is at 115V ?).

They mentioned taking it on camping trips. I wonder now crash proof this device is ?

I think this is a good thing, but I'm a bit worried about this product getting in the hands of the mass stupid and anti-social. Thoughts ?

Yes gotta be a wind up

it would make it ridiculously easy to make a dirty bomb
or someone cluey enough could further enrich the core material

Enron is a dirty word in the USA. There's no way a legitimate company would choose this name. It's got to be an elaborate joke.

Philn is correct, it's an elaborate joke. From the T&C's on the Enron Website:"THE INFORMATION ON THE WEBSITE IS FIRST AMENDMENT PROTECTED PARODY, REPRESENTS PERFORMANCE ART, AND IS FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY."

If you replace the thorium with dilithium crystals you could go warp speed.
Then again if you replace the dilithium crystals with the eye of harmony you could go to both yesterday and tomorrow.

Thanks Fangman for setting it straight. You would think they could've waited till 1st April ?

I must admit. I got a bit suckered by the site. I saw the article on slashdot, a tech site I have been reading since 1998.. Although, I did find it a bit odd that this device did not picture the thick power cabling that it would require. Certainty not a thing you would have indoors sitting on a table. And then of course, would ARPANSA approve such a device to be used in AU ?
