My cats are great with the magpies and all the other animals in our backyard..
But these little guys are amazing
Animals know how to live together
One of my cats up and died last week of an unknown issue
This post is for you Miss Missy
I love your friend the magpie GD. Cracks me up.
Sorry for your loss. I know I have a sad day coming up in the not too distant with my girl.
"unknown issue" could be a snakebite.
I read a story in the paper, that was before digital, about an old lady who was taking pictures of her dog running in the park.
A short while after the dog died of "unknown issue".
And when the lady processed the film on one of the pictures there was a snake hardly seen next to the dog popping out of the grass in full attacking mode.
Nice videos! Magpies are very friendly animals. (except when they are swooping you..) I used to feed them at my parents place. It's amazing how quickly they would become tame. Even to the point of jumping up on my lap and taking food out of my hand.

The thought had come to mind...but isn't it to cold...?
We Have had snakes in the back yard during this last summer

They are dan....we have 2 baby magpies that live all of the day next to the back door and
duck under the house if the big males or old girls come and harass them. These 2 have been at the back door for
about 3 months or so...and last year we had to young ones as well...
I am buggered to know why and how the new babies know to come and crash at my back door
year after year.....they are way cute....and I am sure they know it

I lost 2 cats this past year.... it sucks cause they both disappeared never to be seen again.
We suspect this local creature. The Fisher.
Cute but deadly.
Magpies are really entertaining when they know they can trust you,
When we lived in Wembley Downs there was an extended family of maggies nesting in three of the trees around our place.
They used to preen the red cloud kelpie and labrador - collecting fur for their nests. The dogs loved the attention.
A few of them would march into the house if the verandah door was left open, and patrol the kitchen for the rolled oats that somehow managed to get spilt
One of the juveniles nicked a part roll of wool that my sister was using - and there was much squabbling over the 30 feet or so of wool as it was repeatedly re-stolen by each nest, until I chopped it up into bits for them.
The really funny bit was how the maggies used to mix with Dads racing pigeons when I let them out for an evening exercise flight - a couple of the maggies used to get caught up in the flock and end up going through the trap and into the loft, then Dad would come home to 5 or 6 rather sheepish maggies waiting to get out, with their families outside carrying on like pork chops.
