What a weird creepy little man, that being said I'm against all space travel until all our problems on earth are solved.
The only business we have in space should have to do with satellites and perhaps some sort of death ray to vaporize muslims.

Need a place for Trump to rule far enough away to limit influence and with a G8 off switch to limit the bullsPit baffles brains so sorely overlooked by that crap adjudicator....
Apart from that .. hey If we have to have a perpetual growth economy we have to spread the base somewhere...

The opportunity to replay the War of The World original which spooked a large part of the audience .. aka.. the stable "rational" voting populous of US of A... probably about the same time as Trump was fabricated... but hey I am not a fully fledged conspiracy theorist yet....

Should I review the video clip now?
in reply be convincing...

cheers

We could get about 1% of the worlds population and shoot them into space. That would solve a lot too.

Take 2 ...
Thanks - I started 15 secs or so in thinking he is fighting for a point of view with a free microphone and audience... homeresckkk type noise here..
He heard some feedback .. Laughter.. sort of relaxed .. overall his point of view represents a power economy with capacity to fight a war, do fundamental space research, keep the folks at home engaged.. figure the human genome ... and support enough What if R & D that keeps the world ticking...

So give 9.5 for idea effort
4.5 for presentation skills
9.7 for thinking or re-packaging.. and
8.5 for perspective...
I like remembering my youth reading Scifi' ... So go Mars..

However the reality of comparing the sailing boat trip into the unknown 500 years ago .... to knowingly embark on a 1 way trip to Mars....
Not in my psyche

Cheers

Making the exploration of Mars analogis with the 1492 voyage Columbus, on its own, would not have been a succinct final point, were it not for the fact that he also noted all the other momentous events of the the same year, which mean bugger all to us now.

Then he delivered the coup de grace be saying, "in 500 years time, who will remember the conflict in Syria if we have a colony on the moon".

He makes a well constructed argument, and judging from his stumbling, most was off the cuff.

we don't need space for that - just put it on a leaky boat and push it out to the ocean

All of parliament.

There have been a number of things that, say, NASA has done to solve "space" problems, then someone realizes that could be applied to the rest of us. Wouldn't have happened without a space program.

Velcro? Tang? I'm not buying it. Those billions, trillions? of $$ could be better spent finding cures for diseases, the common cold???? Helping third world people live a more sustainable lifestyle instead of destroying their environment, overpopulating and immigrating. etc. etc...
