This was filmed on soloshot 3 with extra wide angle 1080/60.

Just in early stages of getting this right, I didn't do any stablisation and there is some noticeable shake at greater distance. I didn't have have Tripod set low or weighted it was blowing 25-30 knots and the camera was in pretty high wind exposed position, so I think there is scope to improve this with minimal prep. Also it was a pretty busy day so I had camera a long way back on the beach to keep it out of the way.

This day wanted to get kite in shot but I will test wide and medium to get more rider detail at other times. Hopefully they will create update to alter zoom from the tag in the future.

Sorry about the music, I haven't done a lot of research on video and audio editing (possibly zero) so hopefully I will improve that with future vids.
Also Im only a beginner so don't be too harsh on the rider but not adverse to constructive tips, slight disclaimer it was quite bumpy in there so I wasn't getting great edging into my jumps and backrolls is something im only just starting to do. Once I get that nailed I get my instructors ticket, think that's how it works! just kidding some may know the link there

Hoping others will chime in with their vid techniques and editing tricks, doesn't have to be Soloshot but pls state your vid basic specs to help us learn.

I will post here from time to time so up to you if you want to join in or watch

Nice example of SS3. Surprised no one stole your gear. Was it way back for that purpose?

No, busy day and not a lot of beach space so was trying not annoy everyone by sittimg on prime possi!

i had like a bike chain around a tree stump, but often take two boards so i would just chain to that and that i think would make it awkward enough to make it hard for a quick get away.
But got trust people a bit on that point.

You guys must live in scum holes. I set my gopro on the water's edge in prime position. Nobody steals it. Nobody complains. People around here are just cool.

you think the scenery in the footage, looked like a scum hole?

In most cases I would think its ok to leave it but too much money to leave to temptation. No body complained just me being considerate of others.

soloshot is 2-3 times the price of a gopro depending if you have hero 5 or 6 (multiples more if you have an older one or a session), it stands out more and is a bigger pain in the a$$ to replace.

And GoPro footage is way too wide angle so you would be an ant

Cheers for posting, love seeing footage of other locales, and have never been to umina - looks sweet for twinnie but does swell get in on occasion there?

If you are powered up and it's choppy like that, it's a great chance to practice your load and pop without sending the kite. Once you are getting solid 0.5-1m off water each time, then even in those conditions you'll nail good jumps cause your technique will be better ie, load - then send as you pop.
very evident that you were sending without great heel edge load, and hence no pop... just my 2 cents

there was a good Lewis crathorn video someone posted on another thread about this as well, plus a backroll one that will have you launching in no time!

keep the vids coming...cheers

Thanks yr feedback, yes Umina gets pretty good east to south east swell and miss's anything with north in it I think. Im not a local there but pretty that's sure how it works. The same day I was at an open beach and it had 4-5foot ne swell coming in.

It has a very well known big wave surfing break off the left point known as "The Box" or formally Box Head. Most of the local kiters seem to be riding surfboards and I have seen them charging fair size waves.
I got some more footage this weekend that I will edit through the week, knocking an hours footage down to a few minutes is a mind numbing task.

That's not funny, some of the dumbest sh!t I've ever seen right there....

why would u jump over a downed kite like that??

u can see it powering up before he has even landed....

My guess is he is probably 20 meters behind and camera angle and distance make it look as if he did, also looked like he had committed to jump before kite dived to me.

Yes agree was stupid and I was lucky. I had already committed to do a jump.
I new he was upwind of me and had no idea his kite was about to crash in front of me.

Latest edition, still getting shake on long zoom but to be fair it is quite a distance. I put on sand bag on tripod in a video i had done after this but camera didnt track well for some reason. But shake seemed considerably deminished.

hope provides a bit of insight to the potential.

Hi, I havent loaded any footage for a while, but first a bit more info on the camera. It is software updateable and recent changes have improved the results Im getting. The stabilisation has been improved and I say is still not perfect but can say on some of longer distance zooms in the video the stability is notably better than the earlier video's Ive posted. Some of the updates have been 2 steps back to move half a set forward but the last two updates have been very good in improving zoom, focus and stability. Hopefully its all forward from here!

The video I attach is three camera angles with two of those from gopro type camera Thieye, I think it will be clear to viewer which is which
still working my edit quality but I think this is my best effort yet in terms of video flow, sorry its a bit long and have gone drop box so I can put some music I like in.

If anyone has good site to get music for youtube video's pls pass on.

Not sure what you mean really?

Soloshot is pretty dear I guess, but in terms of camera's still in the low end of the market price wise. I have other uses for the camera. But yeah I did have to think on the cost

The other camera was 120 dollars from memory
