Hi guys,
Thinking about getting a new board soon and am looking at getting something wakestyle focused. Been looking at the naish dub or cabrinha custom mainly. Are these boards really good wakestyle? I dont have boots but want a board that can handle them if I end up getting some. I dont have bad knees ( yet ) so as little flex as possible is good too.
How much do you weigh?
If you don't want flex, look at the Tona Pop or Axis wakestyle range, they are extremely stiff (heavy too) Otherwise the Custom is a great board for progressing onto boots, can't comment on the Naish Dub.
Me personally I would stay away from the dub, but you won't go wrong with the tona pop or flow or the axis tranq, but I prefer the tona boards. The new LF echo looks really nice too. But if you want a dedicated board for boots you can't go past a LF Watson hybrid, you just can't kill them. Yes they are slower and don't go upwind as well as a kite board in lighter wind but nothing pops like a Watson.
Im around 80kg. Is the dub not a board to choose? Only thinking dub because theres a cheap one in here with boots already

all comes down to personal preference, if its the right price and does waht you need then could be good.
Dub is ok. Just have to be lite. I ride the pop 138 and flow 140. They are epic. Flow is sick out in the ocean and the pop is so fast and grippy. My mate has a dub with boots prob the same board your looking at use to be ewan old board and it's sweet but not as fast as freestyle boards.
i tried a dub for a few sessions. it was definetly the worst board iv ever ridden. felt like i was towing around a wind sock. i know the old customs were the same but i think the new ones have changed a bit. cant go wrong with a tona pop. i havent riden every board but its definetly the best out of the ones iv ridden and built tuff.
Hay mate. I own a Tona pop & flow (2014)
The flow is a power hungry whore other than that its a great deck.
Pop is stiff as fu(k. Great if ya got good knees (witch i dont)
Probley going to sell my flow soon if ya keen.
136cm riden about 10 times

Order of boards I would buy would be - Tranq (Billy, Bootleg), Flow, Pop, Dub, Custom.
Obviously I'm totally biased.
My knees are cooked as well so I wouldn't personally ride something too harsh. The Bootleg and Billy are both a little flexier than the Tranq as well. All boards are designed to be a nice balance of speed and smoothness/ ease of use.
As always, all I can say is demo whatever you can, once you try a few boards you will know what you want.
Just bought a tona pop 138, seen so many people talk them up that they must be pretty good.
Its the only board iv ever ridin that flet like it will never brake, ever! You won't be disappointed!
Whos ridden both the flow and the pop. is there a lot of difference??
**** oth they are different!!! I use both, the big differences are. On the pop your very locked in to the edge and is super fast. Flow is smooth from rail to rail, easy release off the water and lovely landings but slower! I love the flow in the ocean, hitting kickers and slashing waves! Awsome on the rails and sliders as well!
So now another question. What type of bindings are best. I see the hyperlite sytem ones where u can separate boot from board look convenient. Or are one piece boots better/more comfortable
I have a set of systems, more annoying then anything, and mine exploded, took lot of glassing but they are back in one peace. I'm also riding the new cabrinha h3, very light, comfy and durable. I was also looking at the airush ap boot, but couldn't get a demo. There are meny threads on meny boots. Have a dig around!
Warranty?
Any pics? Bought a set this year thinking they were the go! Love the feel and walking at cable rules. Still not as cushy as a ronix boot though.
what are the liquid force vantage like? or ronix franks. The valcro on the vantage looks like it would be alot easier and durable?
This comes around about twice a month.
Velcro bindings are terrible in my opinion, low cut bindings are also pretty uncomfortable. That's my opinion, as always though, try then buy .

Vantage are ok. I like the higher cut but they didn't last as long as I wanted them too

:o thats pretty full on
Ended up getting some ronix franks. Have seen mixed reviews on them so hopefully they not too bad. The softness might help me transition to boots with any luck

you probably chose the most comfortable boots money can buy! did you buy the new pop or old pop?
Thats good to know. think its the original pop. black with pink n blue patterns on it, blue bottom. From Kitepower

yeh they are a good deal although the new boards look sic. it may take a little getting use to with the weight but once you get use to it you will never go back. it rides awesome with no fins, I was only running heal side fins for a wile, then dropper those off and ran finless, was so much fun and real easy to land blind but I couldn't get extra pop I needed go get a mobe so I waked the fins back on! thinking of dropping them agen tho haha
yeh the design on these one are a bit basic. had a go on a mates wakeboard the other day to see what boots felt like, although the board was a heavy primitive piece'o'c4@p i could feel some of the benefits once i actually got enough power to try a raley to blind, the trick seemed to feel a bit smoother. Although once i crashed the kite relaunch was a pain as i couldnt anchor myself

That's debatable, but they are a decent boot to get started with for sure.
What is the deal with wakestyle boards in terms of weight. Is it better to have a slightly heavier board? I understand that board weight can help with rotation and also ride better through chop. I am interested to hear people's opinions as I have just been demoing the liquid force echo, I was initially worried about the weight as it is considerably heavier than my current board but it was a totally different story on the water and I love the way it rode I am figuring the weight played a part in this.

They are designed to cop a beating, would you hit a rail with a cabrinha chop stick? And stiff to give you huge pop.
Deep channels to give you grip when riding finless, if you had a skinny deck you would have to go shallow with the channels so they would be pointless.
My impression anyway. I'm sure other people would have a different view

I actually prefer the look of the old pop. Quite like the basic graphics personally.. Anyways solid board choice.
Anyone (besides rowdy ;) had a go on the new Tranq or Billy? I know theyve changed a bit this year. Saw a guy out at SB/pond on the Billy the other day..
