Hi there?.I need some advice from the locals! I moved here from the UK and i need to get out more!

I have a 12m Naish Torch for light winds but I only really use it in 18kts or over in the UK. Anything less and I can?t stay up wind. I?m about 1.8m and 80kgs and during in the summer months it just doesn?t cut it with winds often below 20knts and I find myself sat on the beach or I give it a go and im underpowered and get mashed up by monster aussie style waves. I can often be found sat on the beach with a pile of spaghetti for lines!

I?ve been riding for about 6 years but my experience with aussie waves is poor and I think I would be more confident with more power on tap.

Most people here seem to be riding bow kites rather than C kites which you see more of in the UK due to the stronger winds?plus I guess they are better in waves.

What size and make do people recommend for this part of the world? I was thinking of going to a bow 13 or 14m for light winds but going to big you lose the turning speed which I am learning is pretty important in waves.

Also, does anyone know of any shop that does gear demos in Sydney?

Thanks in advance for your words of wisdom.

Kitepower in San Souci does gear demos.

Otherwise if you're on facebook look for a group 'SUCK Sydney uni crazy kitesurfers'

cheers Phoney. I gave kitepower a call and they were very helpful. I'll be sorting a demo as soon as conditions are right.
