hi, I can do unhooked raleys and s-bends are in progress, my main issue is when kiting in heavy winds or gusty conditions and I bang out a raley on occasions I go flying through the air dangling from the kite unhooked. Then I eat sh"t on the way down.Like an uncontrolled boost. Why? It's bloody frustrating because it's killing my confidence to unhook in anything over 15-18 knots.
am I possible sending the kite, even though I'm holding both hands at centre of bar??? At the same time I watch more experienced riders unhook with the same size kite in same conditions and they seem fine. Even when they unhook with their kites towards 11 on gusty days...Sigh.... Any info would be great guys.
Did anyone else have these kook outs to start with? S-bends seem fine.

Sounds like you are sending the kite, I used to get the dangles when i started unhooking
keep the kite a bit lower and pull a bit more on front hand

for sure bro! your kite is too high. if I have my kite at 11 im going to be dangling for days. if im unhooking I never have my kite above 45!
Cheers guys! Will concentrate on keeping the kite lower and that front hand!
Thought as much as my s-bends i dont have this problem.
Much appreciated
Are you splitting the lines with your back hand?
Not sure sorry? Do you mean running the lines through my back hand fingers? If so thats a great idea man!
Does someone have a photo or a video that demonstrates 'splitting the lines'
I have no idea what you're talking about but it seems to be needed.
hey, just means holding the bar right in the middle with one hand. 2 fingers on either side of the depower line.
makes sure the is no turning of the kite and it sits parked when you jump.
Most people think their kite is low when they first start doing unhooked tricks but in reality it is around 11 or 1 o'clock depending on which tack you're on. You want it at 45 degrees or lower ideally. If you can't get off the water with your kite lower then you need to go back to basics and start working on your pop again. See how you go with the crossed fingers and the lower kite and report back
So splitting the lines has definitely helped with my raleys, no more floating through the air and much better on keeping the kite parked.
Took a bit of getting use to unhooking thou, I kept missing the unhook off the bar.
Now my next issue (I know ride boots) I can't keep my board on my feet when throwing an s-bend. Bloody frustrating. Gonna try to find some heal straps...
Also on occasions im not getting in the full rotation. I've been told to park my kite higher to give me more time, but I read it's easier if it's lower so you don't get pulled of axis and helps to initiate the spin.... Hmmm
I had to stop doing sbends because my back foot would come out 3/4 of the time and was annoying the **** out of me, all because my good footsraps broke and i replaced them with cheap ebay jobs. So id say either hunt down some really good fitting footsraps or get some boots. Ive just got some boots havnt got a chance to try them yet. Try learning raley to blinds if u cant already, easy move to keep the feet in.

I no the Nash apex are an amazing binding, not that I would ever use foot pads agen!
kemp90 how have you found relaunching in boots? Sometime when the wingtip has water on it, it seems like it would be impossible to relaunch without getting out of the boots and walking towards it. Also sometime when i crash i loop the kite to stop it crashing while it skulldrags me, i assume this wont work anymore as the board will stop me moving and stretch me or rip the hadle out of my hands?
are you riding a 5 line kite??? if so pull the **** out of the 5th line then slowly pull to one side...i sucked at this untill recently,
obvious as heck but took me ages to really understand.
yeh 5 line vegas. ive been pulling the center lines in 1 armfull then let go, should i pull it even further?

bodyboard wax on the foot pads
i was practising raileys last night for the first time and I notice that wen i was bearing off down wind and unhooking I was putting too much pressure on my back hand during the unhook and carving part which sent the kite causing me to dangle . More front hand pressure fixed this...
Also can def vouch for naish apex pads they are awesome!

Yeh man i dont have this problem cause I use a 5th. Pull it enough so it rolls and pull a stearing line. It kind of look like a sail on a boat. I find I have to pull alot more 5th on my 13 then I do on my 9 but it's a really easy technique
Cool thanks Kemp90 should help allot. Also do you pull just the fifth line or pull the whole center lines as in all 3. Ive been pulling the whole center lines.

Yeh bro I'm elliot.b.kite
For what its worth... get some boots, i broke my leg on an S-bend gone bad in straps, i now have 7 inch of steel and 9 screws in my leg and had to relearn to walk.
can tell you that was wayy more time pain and money than a set of boots.
