My Comments: I am not going to say too much here other than just introduce the new 2015 Naish Kiteboarding PIVOT. This kite has opened up a whole new level in high performing easy to use freeride kiting. For my application, this kite was amazingly smooth and suited my riding style to a tee. Hope you get the chance to try it for yourself. Huge bottom end, Massive depower, Fast turning with smooth power and predictable effortless control.
Enjoy the vid.
Looks good. Now lets hope it retails under $2000
In the US a 12m is under US$2000 here one will cost you $2499.
Kites are getting more expensive that's for sure.
Why should you care Marty? Seems you are currently on a vendetta against Naish with a negative comment on every post?
I don't see them for under 2g in the USA, they advertise kite only prices and the ones selling with a bar are with the 2014 bar not the 2015 bar which is more expensive.
How do they compare to a Rally - especially the earlier Rally. Anyone ridden both. Im looking for a new 12m.

I don't have a vendetta against Naish at all. Still think they are an amazing brand and JB does a great job. I was just saying that kite prices in general have increased. Not looking forward to seeing the 2015 Cab or North pricing.
I didn't realize that Martyn had duplicated post in this thread as well. I am not sure why Martyn is trying to turn Australian customers away from their local stores, but as I mentioned in the other thread, There is no advantage to purchasing OS. Use a proper exchange rate and pay your GST and duty plus the $245 freight and you are well over the AUS price but with a 2014 UCS bar. We should all support our local kite economy because without them, there will be no associations, no events, no service and so on......
Rant over.
Rode the 8m pivot in 20-25 knots. Normally ride parks. Plenty bottom end. Lots less power in the loops. Very stable and drifts well. Turns can be initiated with slack lines. Real easy to jump and goes high. As I like to ride waves as well I thinking of get a couple of these. Really nice kite pretty impressed. If you ride the dice do yourself a favour and try this kite. It doesn't have that spongy power delivery the dice has. As an all rounder the pivot is better than the park. The bar is improved as well
And on the topic of overseas buying. Support your local kite shop and you might find you get a discount on the gear that is a lot cheaper than what you can get it OS. I do.

How do you manage that? I refuse to haggle...
You need a good kite shop and I am a return customer. Good business people will look after their customers. Never have I haggled over price.

We get an automatic 10% discount on any order over $2,000 through the club here... which is kind of a slap in the face as we pay between 50 and 100% more for gear than the US RRPs... looking at retail in Oz, looks like you got the same kind of issues. At least the local "shop" does good, cheap repairs which keeps the Ozone boys happy...
Be nice if we got some demos occasionally too I guess I'll have to ogle the Pivot etc online only...
Where are you kami? There's only a few major Naish dealers that get the demos early. If your in japan well just get one from US

That wouldn't be supporting my local now would it
The point is we get maybe one demo weekend per year of north, cab, lf or Naish. If we're lucky...
Bloody expensive exercise if tip buy untried and don't like it...
Rode the 7m today. Surprised me to say the least. I was on a 2013 10m Reo before and the Pivot jumped higher, was really stable in the air. Drifted nicely and a really quick kite (as all 7m's ). Unfortunately it only has an above bar swivel which worked 50% of the time. A below the bar manual swivel would of sealed the deal. Upwind was good. The wind range was very good. To sum it up I was very impressed.
I just bought the 14m and 12m. I love them. Im ordering the 10m and 8m when i get some cash. First 14m I've ever had that actually drifts ! Flew the 12m for the first time yesterday and couldn't believe how fast it is for a 12m. I don't jump much anymore. Ride only strapless but I hear they jump huge too. Cranks upwind too. they're worth the money.
Have had a heap of sessions on the 7 lately. Must say, as well as all of the wave stuff, this kite boosts pretty damn well!!! If you get to demo it in some decent wind, take a twin tip with you as well and give it a go. You will be pretty surprised!

Just had a wicked session on the Pivot yesterday. Still coming down from the High. This would have to be the best kite i have ridden. I have used Ozone, Airush, Wainman, North, And Cabrihna. Hans down the best. Nice big jumps slow soft predictable landings. You can fly the kite in the air when on a jump and control where you are going. Great feed back from the kite. It builds apparent wind really fast. Rides nice and fast but controllable. Boosting is effortless. Up wind is the best kite so far. This kite really builds confidence when doing tricks. When i jumped on it for the first run i went in to all my use wall tricks and pulled them off effortlessly. I even tried my first kite loop jump I had some much confidence in the kite. Never back stalled once. Great grunt normally in those conditions i would be on a 12 or 14m kite. When on the beach it just parks at 12 and sits there not trying to drop of to the side. Very smooth in the transitions no yanking and has grunt to keep you going. Loop up and down are wicked being a Pivot it goes with out saying. Cant wait to try it in the surf. But for now best kite i own. Big thanks to the team at Kite Republic for there advice on helping me pick the Pivot im still smiling. Sorry for bad grammar and spelling i was kiting when they were teaching that at school

Was that you down at Pt H yesterday?
Anyone who could compare Pivot to Bandit 2014 model? Especially the bar pressure and turning forces and then the turning speed in bigger sizes, oh and windrange? I am only riding strapless...
thanks!

As it was time to upgrade my main kite after 4 years (yes I have other things to spend money on too), I test rode a few kites. I have tried a variety of brands over the years and believe most kites these days are pretty impressive and user friendly. Remembering that I am after a main kite and I'm lazy, so that for me that is a 14-25 knt range. I have smaller kites but like to ride one kite most of the time.
What I liked about the pivot was how quickly I managed to dial in and how predictable the kite was. The bar was also very light and very comfortable .. almost like its not there (bit hard to explain the feeling - very different to the cabrinah). I normally fly a 10.5 core gts so am accustomed to low end power (lazy). The pivots bottom end surprised me and then got me really excited when I launched off the water. The controllable power and handling in the boost gave me a kite-on. As the name says the kite 'pivots' well which is great for throwing back the other way. The kite can be thrown aggressively without the spanking. The only thing I did not like was on the otherwise sensational bar is the operation of the depower rope. Firstly the depower is a rope and it's below bar. I am used to an above bar strap which I think is a better setup. Secondly and more importantly, whilst the depowering of the kite was easy, powering of the kite was achievable but a real pain in the arse. I'm told there is a technique to it, which I am sure I will work out in time.
I also got to demo a 9m Solo and 9m drifter on the same day and found that the pivot was a lot more in tune with my riding style.
I had also previously flown the 9m solo in lighter wind and it was great however it probably needed to be a 7m solo in 20-25knts at my weight as it is such a light kite and flies really easily.
The pivot did not seem to drift as well as the solo due to its weight but behaved better as the wind increased. The pivot construction was also more robust which for me keeping a kite for a few years as my main kite has some importance. There are always trade-offs.
My kiting buddy of the last 9 years didn't like the pivot but what would he know . It just meant more time on it for me.
Thanks to Surf FX and Moti Levy for the demos.
So in summary
For my desired wind range
I might consider the Solo if I was inclined to justify two kites and did mostly strapless
Don't like the drifter although I have seen plenty doing amazing things.
I am buying the 9m Pivot and will tolerate and work on my technique for the powering up of the depower rope.
