Lofty - Does that actually work ?? Im not too impressed with my bravo pump purchases ... absolutely no maintenance guidelines
My first experience was to have the rubber o-ring spat out the top of the pump and onto the sand - WTF ??
So I tried the SUP pump - same thing
Ive sourced some replacement rubber O-rings for the SUP pump an am now trying 2 !! and with marine wheel bearing grease ??
For the bravo pump users
I'd recommend you go in your boyfriends bedside cabinet.
You'll find some lube in there,
If there's none in there and he's gone to mardi gras
Then he's a cheating on you girlfriend
I reckon the main reason for premature pump failure (PPF) is sand getting inside the pump, the only way its going to get in is through the deflate port - so tie a rag or whatever to filter the air your putting into your kite.
I've tried heaps of different lubes, but that,s another story 
We were talking about this the other day. A lot of pumps these days the original grease goes chalky really quickly or you get a black stain. I've had to upgrade o rings in mine as well. The other thing that fails is the two way rubber seals can 'stick' so you only inflate one way. You have to wash bottom end in grease remover or petrol to solve this. Re grease I use an Australian made industrial silicon grease... But someone else I know (shop owner) says they have had trouble with everything except Vaseline. I've seen new bigger pumps by ozone and other brands. Hopefully they'll be easier and more reliable. If you pump up on grass, your pump will last way longer than on sand

I was in a bit of a hurry so jumped on another forum. There is much opinion on the matter, but I settled for what I thought to be the most reasonable - time will tell.
I got a bottle of "air tool oil", cleaned the chalky grease off and lubed her up.
Sure does slide easily..
