No, I haven't flown the Chrono - yet
ok. let us know when you do.
I will. I'm sure it'll be an unprecedented experience.
Sorry Loftywinds, nothing from a landkiter perspective yet, but we are planning to get up to Stockton soon. The kite will be very fast for sure, but care will need to be taken this is a very lifty (read lofting potential) kite, so definitely no bringing the kite up suddenly at speed, without the risk of an out of buggy/offboard experience.
Check this review from Johnny Heineken after his first sessions.

@Loftywinds
Fairly sure its not exactly what you are looking for but the Chrono just cleaned up in the Red Bull Ragnarok endurance race. From the Ozone FB page
BREAKING NEWS!! Ozones own team member Dominik Zimmermann wins Red Bull Ragnarok on Skis and Sigve Botnen wins the Snowboard class. Both were riding the new Chrono High Performance foil kite. World Kitesurf Race Champion Florian Gruber Came 2nd also riding the Chrono. Well done to them all. More news to come when the party ends!
I wonder what country the riders are from - clearly that country produces the best land kiters in the world.
I wonder what skis and snowboards they're using - they must be the best too!
G
Melville in 7/9 knots and sweeter than honey - but a very technical kite and not for the user who just wants to kite & and not think about the kite above your head 100% of the time - drop it in the water as result of poor flying and it's all over
The 15m & 12m easier to fly as the more wind pressure - the more pressure inside the kite foil wing - & the more room for operator error and they will relaunch quite easily and quickly
The 12m is my fav as just sublime from 12knots to 18 knots and an absolutely a joy to fly fast in every direction
Rider: Weight - 78 kgs
Level: Still learning how to Hydrofoil Properly!
Style: Foiling
Weather: 5-8 knots
Build Quality: 10/10
Satisfaction: 10/10
Disclosure: Kitepower/Ozone Team. Have had foil kite experience with a spleen X19. Ride in light wind on a 2013 17 Edge most of the time I go kiting.
I used the 12m Chrono with a Lister Foil Magic Carpet Hydrofoil/Cabrinha Transport last week in some seriously light wind. Wind graphs are at the bottom of the page, and I was off the water before 3pm. Where I was kiting (President Ave Botany Bay) was more of a local northerly that dropped out and turned easterly as I left as per the graphs.
Setting up was quite easy as it had previously been packed up methodically. Everything looks like it has been designed to be very efficient. I especially like the light flexible frames that hold the leading edge in aerofoil shape. They work well. Unrolled the kite, made sure the zipper is closed, laid out the lines and all done properly there was no untangling to be done. Care definitely needs to be taken in this step though.
As soon as the slightest breeze came through (I suspect around 3 knots) I hot launched and I was able to fly it around on the beach and get used to it. It was a little scary at first having the kite not fully inflated before launching but it was surprisingly controllable even with the wingtips not fully inflated on launch. After a little bit of time I found it?s movement very predictable. I didn't drop it in the water, but reverse relaunching on the beach was easy enough.
I then went kiting after the wind increased a little bit . The kite is very fast through the sky. Turns can be wide arcs that generate a lot of power, but you also can pivot turn the kite as well. It has a wider range of turning speed than a LEI. If you want it to turn quickly with little power it can, otherwise it turns more slowly with lots of power. I was able to start foiling by looping and pumping the foil, and once foiling the kite generated plenty of power to continue and I didn't really want to stop. Even in this light wind, upwind and downwind angles were fantastic as well as speed, especially downwind. Dead flat water helped to reach higher speeds on the foil with hardly any ripples on the water. Gybing was easy with a downloop, for me riding the board in lowriding mode.
A long way from shore the wind dropped to a point where any LEI would have fallen out of the sky, but keeping the chrono in powered loops and low riding the foil, I can't believe I made it back with a dry kite.
Obviously I was underpowered, and I had to loop to start foiling. The kite was only a 12m, so who knows how much lighter wind you could kite in on a 18m.
I am used to riding around on my 17 Edge and Raceboard/foil in hardly any wind and this was even very surprising for me. I would love to see the hangtime on this kite in 25 knots!
The Chrono is an epic kite. Not for everyone, but for seriously high performance in the light stuff nothing I've ever tried is as good.
Look what i just found..... LOL

Used Kite - in good condition with bar and lines.
The foil kite revolution is coming with the Ozone Chrono... Don't pay $3000 for one of those though! The Psycho 4 is all the kite at a third of the money! As soon as you have the Flysurfer Psycho4 in the air, it begs for action. High turning speed, awesome wind range and mega pop. Send you kite into the other half of the window and you will immediately notice the uncompromising lift. But be careful: with such high dynamics like these, you may have to restrain yourself.
Look what i just found..... LOL
and??
Yeah, so!? I've been eyeing that ad for months now. It's been sold anyway I bet?

Surprised that someone with such a keen sense of Irony, doesn't see it here.
Reminds me off Ali G?
Flysurfer is de best.
No Chrono is de best.
No Chrono is de best.
No Flysurfer is de best... Oh.
$3000? Not according to Ozone.com!
Used the 12m Chrono this arvo in 15 to 25 knots just north of woodies Coogee WA for 2 hrs and was mostly 90 % to 100% depowered all session on a raceboard and FARK Me - blew my mind - also tested a new 2014 L2L board & design - no straps ( no holes yet for straps into board )in open ocean and 20 knots and very raw session but board seemed to work also felt very smooth - lots of tunning over next few months - gut feel is it GOOD.
12m in these conditions Not for the faint hearted - but crazy power & speed delivery in all directions
I'm glad I made it back to terra furma
PS . What's with a solid 20 knot sea breeze in May?
I used the 12m Chrono with ...
Best Chrono review yet. Thanks Jordan.
So how are your Chronos going guys? Definitely a keeper in the years to come? A fad or a true kite surfing kite, with a slight annoyance in packing and self landing I imagine?
