Aww come on guys. Give people a fair go. Not this #BuzzKites #SmackDown again!
I probably would if it was "Hi, we're from X, we're a new kite brand introducing ourselves" instead of "Hi, I'm really from a kite brand but I'm going to treat you like idiots by pretending to be a random person asking about a brand that no one knows about because it's new."
Ok,
I was set on f one bandit . Then seen the star kite package was at a really good price I just don't know anything about them. I've seen there twin tips just no Reviews on kites and bars.
First time poster on a new kite brand. I can smell social media marketing at work
Nope just haven't heard of any reviews on them before. Just inbetween upgrading from my roca and was going to buy a bandit but seen these at a good price.
Star looks to have been around since 2011, RRP for a 2020 kite and bar seems quite expensive for an unknown bit of kit though...

Last years well known brands are generally cheaper than the lesser known brands and you'd have an easier job selling them.

My first lessons were on star kites, that was before 2010 so surprising they're still around. Wouldn't go near them tho.

Get the Bandit. Haven't flown a Star kite in several years but even then there was no comparison between the two.
When a brand makes only 1 model of kite and claims it does everything amazingly well and suits everybody... good chance it doesn't have a lot going for it.
That sounds alot like the Reedin kite, and not far removed hypewise from most models from the majors

That describes F-one for most of its existence.

Yeah, except he forgot the part about the Bandit trying to kill you any chance it got.

You take the Star.
I'll have the Reedin

What I do have is a Dash which was designed by Damien Giardin (the din in Reedin) and is/was his favourite kite before his current favourite the Super Model. Outwardly they appear quite similar.

Haha, yes I was kinda thinking that while posting... Nowadays they have the opposite problem, too many damn kites!
Sorry to burst all of your big brand bubbles, but I have been flying Taina's for years. Good all around kite, TT, Surf, even solid on foil. If you want to be impressed by having your buddies ogle at your expensive branded kite, all the power to you. I just want a solid kite that the manufacturer doesn't tweak year after year so I have to get to know her again. I like to ride, not think about the kite, when I find one I like please don't change it! Don't get me wrong, many great kites out there, lots of solid brands, but the kite don't make the kiter.

?? I think all retailer would be happier with one kite per brand. And hopefully by then there will be 4 brands and locals at any beach will simply say 'all brands are pretty good'.
All brands are pretty good really. Its just you have to hunt around to find what you like.
Take the obvious 'airstyle' kites. You've got the edge/XR6/Rebel/Boost/Raptor/Lift. Same kite idea but some turn faster, some pivot, some have high bar pressure, etc. You just need to work out your matrix of characteristics and go for whichever fits best.
Small brands should take a leaf out the Eleveight website where they detail how the kites fly instead of banging on about construction. After all it doesn't take long for big brands to catch up with the material innovations (look how Duotone are introducing light weight fabrics) so market based on getting the right kite.

I had the first edition dash's and now the SM and i rekon the reedin super model is way different...
i would of said its more similiar to the Pivot...

Good to hear an opinion from someone who actually has the Reedin. Very interested in a detailed comparison between the Dash and SM.... please elaborate!
hey so dont get me wrong i loved my Dash but i feel the SM is more suitable for me as i am not just unhooking etc.
Dash is a quick C kite and it really rips you off the water. Steering is very direct and the wind range of the kite is fairly good for the lower side. It also can drift backward if your on a foil or surfboard - not the best but atleast you can use it etc. with this i also found i loops quiet high in the window rather than deep - maybe im sending it too late ... my mate decribed it as an angree bee kite.
With the supermodel i found you lose the rip of the water (well its just a bit less). The pulleys (imo) also greatly influence the reactions of the kite and its a little slower so it took me some time to get used to how to load up my edge for longer to time it with the kite to get that extreme boost. However, the postitive this brought far outweighted negatives once i got used to the way the kite rides i found it can boost higher, has 2x more hangtime and the kite generates more lift on the downloops. I feel it loops lower in the window and gives more yank (again maybe getting used it it)...
wind range is better (probably by kite size) and the thing sits in the air well and is very stable. i have had it out foiling in 10kts....
havnt tried unhooking as i am not doing that much of it anymore
bar imo if a big upgrade as well.
i made a few videos if you youtube search for glasstraxx you can find my channel.

??! What post are you referring to Safo? The OP asked a basic and direct question. I don't see the guy being an arrogant douche, unlike you a lot of the time I must say.
