hi guys im sure this has been done to death so sorry about that .
im looking to buy a lite wind kite i only weigh 70kg and ride a twin tip . the 2 kites im looking at are the fly and the juice in 15m at the moment probably second hand last years models if i can .
im pretty sure i dont need any thing bigger than a 15m in the conditions i will ride in and im at a intermediate level .
any help would be great as both these kites are hard to demo around here
thanks
The current Naish Fly is 17m so it might not be a valid comparison (don't know whether this is the same for last years)
You probably need to define the conditions a bit better to get better suggestions (wind ranges - flat water/waves/freestyle/hooked in?)
will be for flat water freeride im prob good on my 12m rpm from about 15knots at a push so 10-15 knots i guess

the latest zephyr is a really nice kite , at 85 kgs its alive from 13 knts so at your weight a bit less, its bring your rpm into play around 18knts which would be much sweeter, demo a few prior to splashing the cash, some of the strutless and single strut kites have a great low end but lack stability when wind increases, foils are another option to increase water time, my next lw kite will be a foil, my only concern would be reliability as some seem very lightweight and performance orientated compared to others
Juice for me
There's a 17m fly???
Not sure the zephyr is for me I'm looking for something that fits in with my rpms better style of flying wise also looking at around the 15 m size or may be a powerful 14
I think you will get more performance out of the juice. I'm not a north fan but the juice is a great kite. Turns fast jumps great. Good for light wind tricks. I think the fly will just pull you along.

Why don't you just get a 14m RPM and fat board (like a skim board or big old fish surfboard). At your weight, you will probably go in 10 to 15 knots.
I have the 12 and 14m RPMs and the 14 has a lot of grunt.
I am 100kg, and I have been out in 10 knots on a foil with 14m RPM.
I am riding the 15m Best TS and would definitely throw it in the mix. It needs a tiny bit more wind than the Fly and the Juice but it is much more fun to ride as it doesn't just pull you along and you can actually do freestyle on it.
I found the Fly has the best low end but it is just a truck so not that much fun battling against it pulling you downwind. The Juice is a good kite but not as much fun to ride than the TS...
Always been a 17 ?? Why do they advertise the 2015 as 15m ? I was thinking it does look big for a 15

Yeah did cross my mined but I fined my 12m rpm dosnt have great low end and was thinking as they make lite wind kites that they would prob be better for the job as being made lighter and with lite wind relaunch in mined ??
Yes the Naish Fly has always been 17m2.
So briskites you stock both on a lite wind day witch one would you grab of the shelf ?

Could prob get my hands on one of them for a test ride . It was originally one of the kites I was thinking about but I spoke to a couple of guys who have tried them but they ended up buying the juice but may have been a bit of brand loyalty going on there

My two cents worth ..... best light wind kite I have used on flat water/small waves is an Ozone Chrono. They come with launching, landing and untangling challenges if you have never flown a foil kite before, but once up, they are awesome.
Lots of second chrono's will come onto the market as the racers go for their new gear, plus, the racers have a tendency to love their gear.
I have a 14/15 fly and I tried the 15/16 fly and I feel very little difference. That does confirm my suspicions that they were just a 17m all along. I really like the fly so far, it gets a bad rap from a lot of people, I haven't had a lot of time on it yet and will post a review once I have.
Johno I think you should look at the griffins as well you might be able to get a demo on one if your in NSW. I haven't got any experience with them but they do look pretty sweet and they won't hurt your wallet as much

Hard to say as there is 2m difference between them. Those who own them love both.
The FLY certainly goes much earlier as it is bigger. I have seen it being used from about 7knt. Can be a difficult kite to time jumps.
The Juice in 15m certainly won't have that sort of bottom end capability but wins on the looping, jumping and relaunch. Most 15m Juice owners fly them because of the way they don't feel like a BIG kite.
Both of these kites actually unhook well.

Just called you guys up about a juice you had on here for sale just missed it . If you get one more in second hand let me know
Cheers
Looks like I'm going to end up buying a best ts 15 I don't think I can hold out for a juice to turn up in my price range
I don't know why manufacturers and kiters still think you can kite surf a LEI kite in less than 10knots of wind. You're wasting time and money. The best and only light wind kites are foil kites. Chrono, Elf, Flysurfer, etc.

Because you can! Actually there are many LEI kites that work in sub 10knt

Cloud maybe?
I've tried North Dyno 18m and 17m Zephyr and nah... they flop in sub 10 knots. Just saying
Hi Johno,
I have a near new 2014, 15m Best TS light wind for sale for $1000. Kite used less than 5hrs with brand new 62cm bar.
We're about the same weight so here's my two cents worth..
I have tried solving the Sydney Northern beaches problem of light winds for many years with both a foil and many big inflatables. I even tried just using my 12m Best TS with a North Nugget which was fun but not what I was looking for as I enjoy practicing various transitions on my big twin tip more when it's light and flattish.
There is no point in buying anything bigger than 14-15M at our weight. I have flown many big kites and they rarely move well. I had a 13.5 m Griffin Argo which was lively and fun albeit with a narrower wind range (like the Naish Fly), but still comes recommended. The Best TS, slingshot turbine and the newer Ozone Zephyrs have a great wind range which is helpful as you can skip the 12m kite in your quiver that way. I have not flown the North Juice so can't compare but have heard good things about it.
I tried using the15m best TS with the bar for a 12 and it was ok until I borrowed the big bar - surprisingly huge difference in how it turns ( could easily kite loop!) and I ordered one just as the season came to an end. I have now sold my 9 & 12 TS and bought smaller North Dices. Undecided what to do for light wind this season - maybe a 13m Evo. I'm sure I'll keep experimenting as long as I kite!
Happy kitIng.
Joda

Sounds like "user error" to me

HAHA.. funny one Jason
With a 18m Juice and NUGGET 5"5 i could easy plane and have fun in 10knots.
The Juice also relaunches no problem, in these conditions.
All to there own, but the safety of a LEI seals the deal for us.
