Possibly visiting Yalata next week. Looks like good surf. Anybody kitesurfed there? What is the wind like this time of year there? Also, any recommended stops for kiting in SA - we would be doing a road trip from Melbourne.
Hi Peter,
Not sure which route your taking but if your coming through Mt Gambier I"ll be happy to show a few spots around here, flat and waves.
Oh, bring some wind with you
Ian
hey yeah wouldnt kite at yalata as it has very deep holes but travel to fowl bay need 4X4 To get to scotts bay sweet surf and allways bloody windy lots of sharks but it is on sand so you can see them they only seem to follow you never had one chase me
Thanks for the tips guys. I decided Yalata was a bit too dicey. No backup there and I didn't fancy ending up at the cliff of the Bight!
Fowlers Bay and Scotts Beach were great, but the 30 knot winds dropped just when we got there!
Got a nice session in at Lake Albert (first ever in freshwater). Blog post and photos to follow.
Here is the post I wrote about kitesurfing Lake Albert. www.peterskiteboarding.com/2011/01/freshwater-kiting-on-lake-albert-south.html
