After new year’s me and a group of mates are heading down to Marion Bay on York Peninsular – I’ll be there for 8 days and want to get a heap of kiting in. Can anyone tell me some of the good beaches, preferably in Innes National Park, but around Marion Bay also? There are beaches that face almost every direction, what beaches work best in what wind directions – flat water and waves???

Also if anyone wants to come down for a few days let me know – there will be floor and backyard space

i kited at Marion bay few weeks ago in a southish wind from the cnr where the flat water is past the jetty and down about a k - walked back. Not the best spot flat water in cnr is nice but wind is dirty from going over head land so a bit on and off, further down not so flat and seaweedy/reefy check google maps will be better spots thatn Marion bay and the pub food is costly - but beer is cold

keep your gear locked up.

Mates and I got a heap of fishing and camping gear stolen during the night while we were at the pub. it was just out the back of the shack we were staying at.

Who the F steals a swag....honestly?

keep an eye out for a 14.4ft Juro surf rod with a 7000 abu overhead reel on it for me

Daily heads is good on a northerly not that you will probably have any but keep it up your sleave. Not sure how you will go with the local surf crowd!

Has anyone kited Pondie in a Northerly?
It looks prime for the southern (flat) end...

this time of the year the wind will come from the sw so near the shacks it will be flat water but the wind is gusty coming from the cliff but by the surf break its alot better but shore break is fun to get through and normaly 20 surfers or more on it

I kited Pondie last tuesday in a northerly. Was great down the southern end, Just got to dodge all the morings, other than that its a good flat water location with easy access to the beach.

Has anyone ever taken a kite out at Westcape?

Really heavy waves there if there’s any swell around..
