Road Trip to Whyalla for the Whyalla kite boarding Classic
Its time for a road trip again.. After such a sick trip to Barmera, and Robe to far away.. Its time to fill up the car, the esky and maybe your kite gear, and start the 4 hours drive to Whyalla..
The event looks sick, sign up from 2.30 to 3.30pm on the sat 17th Jan, Free ride session from 3.30.. With sliders, kickers and maybe a race.. Then voted, a top 10 Comp for pro winner, but heaps of prizes and division. So doesn’t matter how good or bad you kite, every one has a chance to win something…
After the comp, its next door to the surf club for more beers, Pressos, and dinner while we wait for the Eyre to warm so that we can party on, until dawn.. Its going to be sick….
Accommodation: the Caravan park is close to the event, and walking distance from the Eyre Hotel, that is if you are that keen or your name is Tommy Scott.
It’s a trip for all, so come along and have blast..
More info to come..
A few of ya could crash at mine if you wanted. Its only 5mins walk from the Eyre.
1 bedroom is full of gear but enough room to get to the bed.
The other room is my kite dry-off area, but would fit half a dozen swags between there and the lounge.
Hmmm...let me think about that Walshy-I have seen you in action on a big night out and it is very scary...
amen to that geoff... I would recommend the foreshore caravan park, it is really close to the event, and have cabins to suit any budget... Look forward to seein everyone...
Geoff, I think that is the pot calling the kettle black!
I've shared a cabin with you, and that was scary. I think I might give Walshy a chance!!
Either way, I'm there!
Walshy, just a word of advice be careful who u agree to let stay. Jordy sledging Geoff thats a worry particulalry after hearing what Jordy was doing with a bottle opened up at barmera!
well we are hitting up there caravan park. I dont think we could get banned from 2 caravan parks in 3 months.
But we will try
Might not be able to drive the kombi home from the beach so some one can stay there, has a double and a single bed upstairs.
Hope everyone had a good christmas.
Its prob best to stay at the caravan park or the combi. That way cars dont have to be left at the foreshore and my neighbours dont get cranky.
Should be a good weekend regardless. Pray for wind tho !!
Got a spare seat and a near empty van heading up to Whyalla early on the Saturday. Anyone need a lift up and want to share the petty costs let me know.

They have a few cabins left.. so book in early..
Hopefully you are getting the beers on ice for us... its going to have to big , to be better than the Barmera road trip.
hey lads and lasses, this weekend is destined to be massive... Everyone is welcome to come the more the better... Sat night is hopefully gonna be huge, the country lads will show you guys how to party!! Its alright though stewie, ill get some red cruisers for you :) look forward to seein everyone in our home town...
Rumors are that this weekend is going to be massive.. I heard through the rumor mils on the beach.. That team Geoff and the goons are heading up, team groms and team Liquid force.. as well as heap of crew to be esky warmers..
This is in the making for one out of control crazy trip.
And Blake, please make sure that those red cruisers have a straw so that I spill those dinks on everyone..
I am slowly getting amped for one out of control weekend.....why must we always do this to ourselves...
i heard a rumer that some of team geoff are not coming to wyhalla becuase they are getting told what to do by there girl freinds. so sad. Grow some bulls.
Even travis is coming so everybody else needs to lift the bar..
Its party time, heaps of prizes even if you are beginner.
2 weeeks mate.
hey lads, less than two weeks to go and i am excited... I mentioned to stew that the surf club would be the place to go afterwards but it looks like a late change of plans, as far as i know the waters edge restaurant, only 50 meters from the comp site, is keen to have us come up and drink there... Its lookin awesome... See you guys soon...
Hey All! I was down at whyalla for Christmas for a week to see family (I live in Adelaide these days!) But really great bunch of guy down there! Well worth the 4 hour drive down from Adelaide. Perfect location for Kiteboarding ... nearly everyday!!
I dont think i will go in the comp! But i am definetly thinking about going down to have some fun and watch some massive kiteboarding!!
THANKS to everyone from whyalla had much fun kiteboarding there!! Looking foward to coming down and catching up with you all again!

Hey guys, definately frothing for next weekend. I hope you guys don't mind helping me celebrate my, eerrrrrr, 27th (yep that ll do ) birthday on Sat night.
So make sure those beers are cold.
See ya soon, Croc
Get on it yall- promises to be a great weekend.....
And Croc- 27th birthday ??????????????????????? Mate I think anyone who looks old enough to star in the Arthritis SA commercial may be a little older than 27......
with jordan and croc birthdays there is even more reason to get to whyalla and drink (and maybe ride) :) not long to go now... Its gonna be huge!!
is this a kite comp or a birthday party.. .Becasue it was my 35th birthday last week as well, so its a 3 way birthday party then...
The wind and weather is looking sick, for the weekend.. The body is getting ready, it seem many of the boys have been training this weeking in drinking at the ****'n'fest.
so stoked..
so looking at the comp details, there is a prize for the best dress kiter, so I heard that young harry is going to kite as borat, and Tommy Scott is going as Tommy from rug rats and airush Geoff as Mr. incredible, but myself I will dress to impress.
so get your costume ready and get fired up.. 7 days from now, you will hearing the stories from the night before..
stoked.
The last week in Whyalla has been sick. Wind, wind and more wind. Last couple of days have kicked in as the tide turned, 25-30 knots, some excellent sessions.
I will post some video in the next couple of days. Hopefully the recent run of good days continues until next weekend.
See you all in Whyalla.
Cheers
AB
Looks like Whyalla is still top of the drinking and blowing capital of SA. Hope it goes off for you all.
Have a good one
