Onboard Robe Easter Classic Day 0, For those of us who were lucky enough to get into town during day light hours. We were greeted with perfect 4 foot clean waves at third ramp and a beautiful sunset to finish the day off. Tomorrow is looking a complete opposite with big surf and plus 30 knot winds. Bring it on I say and frothing to see who steps up for it. Get on down here, it's going to be an awesome day
Onboard Robe Easter Classic Day 1. Well, as expected there was plenty of windy and waves. A few of the regulars hit the water early with 20 knots of wind and around 4 foot surf. In an effort to keep the pole boarders happy, the event was moved to Beachport in search of cleaner waves. The riders were greeted with cross offshore winds gusting to plus 35 knots and 2 to 3 foot waves. The strong gusty conditions tested all the riders. But for those who put the effort in, they were rewarded with some great waves. By around 3:30 most people were spent and made there way back to Robe for a relaxing arvo.
With the weather being so wild ,the decision was made to take the legendary beach party to the Robe Yacht club, where the crew kicked on to some acoustic tunes.
With tomorrows forecast set for a comfortable 15 to 20 knots. I'm sure all the crew will be frothing to hit the water for a great day of wave riding.
Onboard Robe Easter Classic Day 2. Unfortunately the wind didn't show up today, but that didn't stop the crew having a great day. The start of the day started a little slowly with most crew nursing sore heads after a huge night at the yacht club. As the day rolled on the crew grabbed their sups and surf boards and made there way to 2nd and 3rd ramp for some nice semi clean waves.
The forecast for tomorrow is looking great with winds around 25 knots and still plenty of swell rolling through. There is no doubt everyone will be going all out to impress the judges, so i'm sure the standard of kiting will be nothing short of spectacular.
So did anyone get any good photos from the Friday and Sunday sessions? I know there were a few cameras out snapping away.
Just some IPhone shots but feel free to have a look through!
There was some video I saw of me pulling off some sick wave riding until I realised that I was looking at Martyn who has an almost identical kite!
Still, I will claim some of it to my mates!
Onboard Robe Easter Classic Day 3.
Sorry for the late wrap up, I have been a busy boy.
WOW, what a day Sunday was. The competitors could not have asked for a better day. The surf was around head high out the back with an awesome inside shore break reform that was so much fun to ride. The wind was up and down a little ranging from 15 to 25 knots at various times of the day. The direction was pretty onshore, but this made it the perfect direction for a number of the crew to throw down some solid punts. With everyone on the water for most of the day, it made for a great sight from the beach. The riding level amongst competitors was at an all time high with a number of crew stepping up which was great to see. With the comp completed at around 3:30, most riders were absolutely stuffed after 3 and a half hours of riding. Saying that, everyone had a grin from ear to ear
