“Y'all ready for this?”
It's Summer, it's hot, and the seabreezes are back to their old selves again! You've all been throwing down your best moves… now it's time for the SAKSA State Freestyle Titles for 2013!
When: 9th & 10th February, 2013
Where: Grange Sailing Club
How much: $50 Entry
What do I need: Current SAKSA Membership and some kite gear!
More than ever before, we've seen the caliber of riders in SA sky-rocket (no pun intended). With Ben Winding potentially out of the picture whilst overseas, a changing of the guard is inevitable, but is it really all that clear cut? Will Smallacombe, after travelling the world to better his skills is up against the likes of Pearce Reichelt, Jordan Grimes and Mario Stefano. Even some of the Juniors, like Dion Do and Corey Capaldo, are busting out tricks that could see them on the Open Men's podium this year.
This is set to be the most hotly contested State Freestyle Kiteboarding Titles we've ever seen in South Australia.
As always, the Women's division will showcase the talents of our best and most experienced kiteboarding girls. Last year there was an upset, but experience tells us that this just makes them hungrier for a return to the top step of the podium. What's more, there are more women into the sport in SA than we've ever seen, so we could see our first multiple heat system run this year in the Women's competition. Come on girls! Get on board for an awesome day and some great prizes! You don't have to be Gisela Pulido to enter! If you can kite, we want you entered!
There will be 6 divisions this year.
- Juniors
- Amateurs
- Open Women
- Open Men
- Masters
- Legends
As per last year, Juniors can enter Open categories as well and similarly, so can Masters. This is in line with National Titles regulations, so you are able to carry a State Ranking into the Nationals.
Just like every year, the atmosphere will be electric, the entertainment will be non-stop and the riding will be awesome. Sponsors always really get behind the State Titles and as always there will be a load of awesome prizes for the competitors.
South Australia is the premier kiteboarding state! Support your local association, support your local comps and support your local businesses!
See you there!
Based on all the kites I've seen out over the last few weeks, does that mean everyones practising hard for this? hope so.
bring on the wind.
Haha - its more the videos being shared on SAKSA Facebook Page which are showing what the contenders have been working on!!
I have been stuck in Africa, so if I come for the comp, I will still be as bad as last year! Can I get a trophy for the worst performance?
I'm not sure about a trophy, but i'm sure you will walk away with something. It will be great to see you back on the water again
Cheers Croc
