Oh, winter is upon us!
The swell is up, the banks are working down South and the reefs on the mid have been giving it their all.
That winter chill we all love (?) brings frontal systems that will power us into the waves like we’ve all dreamed about through summer.
So as always, June and July will again play host to the most renowned wave competition in the country, as SAKSA holds its annual State Wave Titles. We’re expecting a great turn out, from those looking to just try their hand, to those going for the top step on the podium. Last year was hotly contested and there are a few crew at the top who are out to correct what they so closely missed out on.
As always, with the Winter weather patterns, we are setting a 4 week window aside in which to run the event. We will therefore run on the first weekend with adequate wind and swell.
We’ve checked the tides and we’ve checked the breaks and have decided that again, in 2014, we’re going to hold the event either at Seaford or Middleton, depending on conditions. As we saw in the last two years straight, the Rose Street carpark has turned on the goods for us so it’s now an official fixture.
The details are as follows.
When: July 5/6, July 12/13, July 19/20 or July 26/27
Where: Seaford Carpark or Middleton (Rose Street)
Cost: $40 (free T-Shirt) or $60 (free Hoodie)
What you get: Entry into the comp, free Tee or Hoodie (depending on what you pay), BBQ & Soft Drinks.
What you need: You must be a current SAKSA (AKSA) Member to enter.
NOTE: Sign-up in ONLINE ONLY. No cash. Be a bunch of legends and sign up at home before the day! It makes everyone’s job so much easier.
Once again, we’ll be running the following categories:
- Juniors
- Amateurs
- Open Men
- Open Women
- MastersLegends
So whether you’re just comfy in the waves and want to give it a crack, or you’re going for the title, get out there and support the association that supports South Australian Kitesurfers, SAKSA! See you out there and good luck!
Frequent updates will be posted on Seabreeze forum and SAKSA Facebook. Stay tuned there and on the SAKSA Website for all upcoming details. Online Signup will be LIVE SOON – Stay tuned for the link on the SAKSA Website at www.saksa.com.au.

SAKSA STATE TITLES UPDATE - 25/7/14
Hi crew,
Whilst, loosely, Sunday is looking like possibly bringing some good weather for kiting, it's looking a bit fickle for the South Coast and or the Mid Coast unfortunately. The issue is that we need enough wind to call a comp that will run for most, if not all day and this Northerly system just isn't looking like sticking around too long.
So our executive call is: The compe will NOT be run this weekend.
However, looking at the long range, we have some frontal systems banking up next week with a possible break friday and another system Saturday. If that holds true, we could be a go for next weekend pending committee availability.
Thanks,
Jordan

SAKSA State Wave Titles Update - 16/9/14
Hi crew, once again this weekend is looking no good for State Wave Titles, so once again, we'll be postponing it. Remember we're only running until the end of September before we can the whole comp and look to run it at a later date, possibly in Summer.
