With the end of the season rapidly coming to a close its time to finalise all your entries to TobyFEST, SAKSA's inaugural Short Film Festival!
Pro AV Solutions/Sony have kindly donated 2 Sony HD Action Cams as major prizes for SAKSA's newest completion TobyFEST! That means there is no better time to get your cameras out and finalise your editing with the aim at taking home one of these amazing prizes. Even if you haven't captured any footage this season there is still time over the coming weeks, particularly with the Robe Easter Classic just around the corner.
So what else do I need to know -
Film Criteria:
Make an short film between 30 seconds to 5 minutes in duration. Add some cool beats with the main focus of the movie being kite surfing. It's not about the standard of riding but to demonstrate the stoke that we all get from this awesome sport! It must be tasteful and not portray kite surfing in a bad light (no illegal activity will be accepted).
Ensure a SAKSA logo is clearly visible at some point during the film and other sponsors or shops logos are also welcomed.
Riders are limited to 3 entries per person and must currently be financial SAKSA members.
Judging Criteria:
The overall winner of the comp will be judged by our very own Local Film Maker, Jonathon Baker. He will be judging the quality of the editing in the film, the originality and the overall look and feel of the short film.
A People's Choice Award is also up for grabs which will be judged by your fellow kiters at the SAKSA TobyFEST/End of Season Party, where all the entries will be played on the night.
Entries: Entries close on Saturday the 6th of April 2013 and can be supplied by 1 or 2 methods, either -
1) Upload to us! There is an easy website called 'WeTransfer' which is great for files up to 2G, all you do is select your file from your computer, provide your email address and then ours! info@saksa.com.au and begin your upload.
Or
2) Get in touch with us on the SAKSA Facebook page and we'll arrange to get the video from you before the night of Tobyfest.
TobyFEST Movie Night and End of Season Party: The TobyFEST movie night and SAKSA End of Season party will be held on Friday the 19th of April 2013, kicking off at 7pm. With a venue still TBA.
Remember this is all about showing the stoke we all get from kite surfing and riding with our mates. So get behind those cams, get creative, get your film on and make sure you get along to see all the entries on the night. We look forward to kicking back and watching what you have all put together and seeing just how many budding film makers are out there amongst our great kiting community!
Cheers

Ok after a bit of discussion we have decided that MP4 or M.264 is preferable, however WMV and other file formats will be fine as we should be able to convert them fairly easily. For more details on file formats please go to the link below and this should help.

Ok crew just a friendly reminder that the TobyFest/SAKSA End of Season party is coming up on the 19th of April. We are still trying to finalise a venue but hope to have this sorted by the weekend.
The cut off for submissions to TobyFest was originally the 6th April but after a few requests we have extended the deadline until the 17th April to allow people to complete their vids and get them 2 us. If you are still working on your entry please let us know so we can make sure it makes it to the judges.
Dont forget there are 2 Sony HD Action Cams courtesy of Pro AV Solutions/Sony up for grabs.
SAKSA is also putting up 2 $50 vouchers as door prizes from our 2 major sponsors Stance and Onboard, which will be drawn around 8pm when the winners of TobyFest are announced, so make sure your there beforehand to go into the running.
Pizzas will also be supplied on the night.
So watch the usual forums for more info on the venue and we look forward to seeing you all for pizza, videos, a few bevvies and a load of laughs.
Cheers

If grange sailing club is not available have you tried the Semaphore Surf life Club just south of Bower road, or Largs sailing club it has a pull down projector screen.
Hey Crew well the venue has now been confirmed. Grange Sailing Club have been nice enough to once again open up their door for us. (but thanks for the suggestion SeaSquirrel). Kick off will be between 6:30 and 7, with Pizzas to arrive not long after.
If your submitting an entry dont forget they have to be to a SAKSA member by Wednesday night at the latest.
Hope to see you all there on Friday.
Dont forget the End of Season party and TobyFest video viewing tonight guys. Should be a great night and hope many of you can come along for pizzas, beers and a few laughs.
