Live in brisbane and thinking of heading up to double island point lagoon for a full day of kite surfing. Would like to know the best wind direction and is it tide / swell orientated ? Cheers for any advice

If you are coming from Brisbane you won't have to worry about those rocks. Best to go when the tide is atlas half out though so you get the hard compacted sand to drive on.

For Sale. Patrol, white, never been off road, 1 careful lady owner….

Seriously, that’s not a car stuck on the rocks. The cars that get really stuck are dug out on the next low tide.

I remember a few years ago we dropped onto the beach to head to DI and at near dead low there was blue water around those rocks. At times like this they are impassable for several weeks until the sand rebuilds

IMO DI is a sick spot,
but Highly Highly overrated, the lagoon smells like $h!t, if you get too close to the dune, you will struggle to ride back upwind away from the dune and end up having to walk back up.
Then there is the fact that when it is blowing, every kitesurfer from the sunshine coast to rainbow beach goes there and rides like it's their local, not giving room to anyone, resulting in 50-70 people lawn mowing in circles till the wind shifts southerly.

DI is one of those special spots, I seem to have the worst luck with it though, every time im up there it doesn't blow more than 15 knots.

Kemp90 - Looks amazing there, i might have to crash your spot soon, Is the track 4x4 only?

Go for it Bro. There is a back track that you don't have to go on the beach but it's ruff as guts. I drive on the beach to get up there. Takes me 20min from home to get up there.

Yeh that's definitely a bit of a mission to get to. I don't go up there anymore cause it's loaded with patrols and cruisers with red P plats driving over every sand dune they can find. And speeding around blind corners.
Gets some solid swell up there. There is a brake in the reef so it gets waves as big as the rest of the south east. BUT, it's 1 of the biggest breading grounds in Australia for Tiger sharks.
