Hi guys.
I'm living in Kilmore north of Melbourne at the moment. I am from Denmark and don't know anything abouth kitesurfing down here. Where are the good spots and where do you check to see if the wind is good? I really need some kitebuddies :)
Can anyone tell me which months are good windwise? And if some spots are easy to get to with public transportation? I too don't have a car.
Cheers :)

Hi Millaca. If you can get public transport to somewhere near the ring road and it's a good day for altona, I can give you a lift from there. I'm in north east melb so have to drive around the ring road anyway.
Apologies for the semi-commercial nature of the next bit, but for anyone who is looking for friends to go kiting with (or any other sport), I've just launched a new website to let you do just that. www.findfriendsforfun.com . Hope it's helpful.

Hola boys & girls.
Apparently we cant kite in StKilda during northern winds ... do you know if we can kite in Altona, Brighton with those winds?
And another question, how to get there by public transport?
Thanks a lot!
Vic.
Altona faces SSE, Brighton WSW, so unless you like kiting with an offshore wind, you can't kite there in northerlies. Best place for a northerly is rosebud (south side of the bay). I think there's also somewhere near Geelong for northerlies but don't know it. I don't think either of those are accessable via public transport but could be wrong.
St Kilda, Altona and Brighton are all accessable by public transport. Train for Altona and Brighton and tram for St Kilda.

I live in st kilda and have a crappy car for covering in sand and heading to rye or Geelong on northerlies or torquay on southerlies (Info: you can get public transport to torquay for those wanting waves vline from southern cross).
See u on the water!
Hi guys.
After lessons finally. Went to a beach with my gear on Wednesday and it was huge succes. First hour I was doing Spaghetti Bolognese, then half an hour wondering how to inflate the kite, then did one 4 metres superman jump and one good run through the whole beach. Then half an hour wondering how to deflate the kite ...

Hey guys, I don't live in Melbs anymore but if you're after kite buddies you should hook up with the Kite Republic team for one of their social nights at the Republica bar which is right next to the seabath in St Kilda. Go on their website for more details...
For those who don't have a car, they organize some awesome ride days during the week end usually in Inverloch or Rosebud...
I had heaps of fun with them last year.
Hope this helps.
