Moving to Newcastle in the new year to take up a new job at the port. Have 3 school age daughters and looking for the right suburbs to begin house-hunting.
My wife's priority is trees and proximity to good schools. Whilst I share these, I also want to be as close as I can to the best kiting spots
Any tips from the novocastrians out there would be great!
I know it's probably a bit late on the reply, but it depends if you want to travel a bit for work, want to live in the burbs or have acreage.
I'm at Salt Ash backing onto Stockton Beach.
Both my kids are just starting to land board and I'm about to get into kite surfing so it's the perfect spot for me.
25 minutes into the center of Newcastle, beaches in all directions and I have a couple of acres, so don't have to look at the neighbors when I walk out the door!
Thanks guys. Had a house-hunting trip before Christmas and must have looked at 20+ properties. Were only able to inspect 3 rental properties (weren't able to be there on a Saturday) and missed out on all of them, so now getting a little desperate to find a rental.
Thinking of landing somewhere around Kahibah - seems to me to fairly central in terms of good kiting, schools, shopping, beaches etc. and not so expensive.

It's a mountain bike forum, but all of the guys on it are from around central Newcastle and ride Glenrock right next to Kahibah.
They're a good bunch. I spent 6 months in the park on an excavator building mountain bike tracks. Keep an eye out on that forum for a bloke by the name of EMPY (Mick). Dam good contact to have in the area.
Hopefully they will be able to put you in touch with someone.
Hey Captash. I'm pretty sure I bumped into you and your wife while kiting at Nobby's when you were checking the area out. I was the Yankee that's also new to the area (and told you that it might be tough to find a rental). I hope it worked out for you. Are you here now? Wind should be good for kiting at Dixon Beach tomorrow... Maybe I'll see you there. Cheers--Chris
