The Cruising Yacht Club of Western Australia (Rockingham) have kindly invited the Kiteboard class to their special event.

PFD 50S, PLBS.EPRIB & 2 inshore flares required.
All racers must be WAKSA Member
The Catalpa Classic commemorates the escape of six Fenians from Fremantle Gaol and the shores of Rockingham in 1876.
Yachts from TCYC representing the escapees start first in the race to Fremantle.
This year Kiteboarders will help the pursuit by the Fremantle boats starting later and representing the West Australian authorities.

Can i do this on a TT or will i just get laughed at/left behind/unable to finish in time?
It is a sailing race so will be run in all conditions, which may not be favourable for your equipment/skill.
But you can certainly do it on a TT or a surfboard
Just need to have the right safety gear, and kites for the conditions.

Kiters need to sign-on by 1:00pm
Kites start time: 14:30
Safety equipment check: 1:00pm-1:30pm Safety equipment required

# This is firstly a sailing club event, we are a an invited class.
# This Long distance downwind event (23km-27km) is an intermediate/advance event and all kiters should ensure they are suitable kit, have the require skills and equipment.
# All kiters to ensure they have proof of current WAKSA/KAL membership on the day.
# All kiters must have suitable equipment and skill to maintain a good pace for the event.
If there is any doubt about the kiter's equipment or skill for the current conditions, PKR may prevent a kiter participating.
