oh i hope you get it through! it was so great during the last trial. I am amazed its not more popular. Over here now i live in Scotland its getting dark at like 11ish with day light savings. fkn epic :D
^^^ Its good for us wind addicts but not for all.
Try to get little kids to bed at 8pm when its full daylight and still 35 deg, but they still have to get up same time for school etc. They're wrecked after 3mths of that. Not fun.
We all need to push for more staggered work start times, say its to ease traffic...... all big business should allow start times form 0500to 0900. We will allchoose early, lazy types pick 0900 - all good

The last place I worked at in Perth they had effectively given themselves a 8am to 4pm day and working from home Fridays. It was good. Who needs daylight savings when your work is flexible like that?
Blackout curtains, aircon, kids sorted. My tykes are
going to bed in daylight in summer already (i assume, they are not around when i get back from the beach).
FN, nice, but by the time you get to beach and on water there is only 3hrs of daylight, which is barely enough for a warmup then its dark...

Imagine all those tired kids in the most populace states that have daylight savings. Crikey those are just some of the stupid reasons that came out last time we tried to get daylight saving through. People adjust.
You need to look at the difference in light levels with sunset and sunrise times, altitude etc. Its not the same.
I was 'fortunate' enough to grow up in fibro with no aircon and up to a month straight of 40deg. Curtains don't help.
Its driven by big business who want to do business with the eastern states easier.
People should be more free to pick the hours they work as a first choice, then talk about DLS. That's my main point (not starting the fight, just saying a different fight could be had in the name of congestion and it might be good for us.)

I thought I was in heaven. I got so much kiting done. I would leave the office, catch the train home, and then drive to the beach via home. All up, I was on the water by 5 or 5:30 which left 2 hours of kiting. On a working day its awesome. It was like having two separate lives.
I can kite for more than 2 hours, but TBH its nicer to go more regularly for shorter sessions.
I think it should be up to companies to set their hours and for a lot of people a 8 to 4 or even 7 to 3 day would work okay.

Yeah totally hey, finish a kiting session and its like you've just had the day off..!
ha 5.30?
when i was covering kwinana i would tie up my last meeting on windy days for 3pm, that way i would be at woodies by 4 :D
have to say i defo agree with kids routine its a bit hard but it can be helped with blackout blinds etc

For me and my kids I find the sun coming up at 5am and waking the kids up much more disruptive than putting them to bed at night.
It annoys me so I've adapted and generally get up before 5am and start my day early. Just like I would adapt to DLS and kite till 9pm each night and not get up so early. I think that scenario would be more fun.
I put my vote in for the Daylight Savings Party!! Did they win?
I'm more concerned about my curtains fading if Day Light Savings comes in again.
All that extra Daylight that we didn't get before Doh!!!!
How Many Dumb Arses are there in this state??? obviously quite a Few!!!!!
FFS WA get with the times!!!!
Simple google search - "Perth is the sunniest (3,200 hours annually) and Melbourne is the least sunny (2,200 hours annually). "
That's why we don't need it and it gets voted down. Its driven by big business who want to have easy trade east-west (ie: increase thyeir profits) and a few minority interest groups (we are one unfortunately)
Thus, I still think we need to push a campaign for staggered work starts based on traffic congestion / Perth population increase of 50% in 10yrs or whatever it was - so people can start work really early if they want to. Imagine if your boss said hey what hours do you want to do, anything from 5am onwards? Start at 6 in summer and 8 in winter?
And then there was Covid.
does it even matter anymore. You don't need to change the clock to change how you use the day.

Mark Your google search is irrelevant. It is about the average of full sun per day affected by weather.
The amount of daylight is a function of Latitude as explained by the picture below
Longitude also has an influance on Time. Because Western Standard Time is base off 120 degrees Longitude and Perth is at 115 degrees Longitude Perth effectively has 20 minutes of Daylight saving all year round
^^^ That's what I meant and I thought the google result I found was referring to that (as per my previous references to latitude being relevant)
Sorry for the red herring but still - it seems many people don't actually know that numbers of daylight hours vary
Well daylight saving party won a seat in the WA senate with only 98 votes. Not that that matters with mark mcgowan in total control. We'll get daylight saving if he wants it!
I dont really care if we get it or not tbh, ive got the flexible work hours everyone else wants :)
