Hi guys, my first post here so go easy??
I've been experimenting with windsurf sails on my land yacht but wondered if a laser 4.7 dinghy sail would work better.
Has anyone tried these before??
Cheers
Havent tried one but if it fits It should be fine 4.7 is mid range for a mini yacht
Let us know how it goes !
A dinghy sail would normally have to much draft in the shape, Yes it will work.... but poorly compared to sailboard sails.
Thanks for that fellas, but I've had a change of plan. recently found a class 5 yacht for sale so that's my new ride. Just need to find a smaller sail for strong wind.
Laser 4.7 sails are typically used on a Laser 4.7 dinghy, which is a small, one-design sailboat. These sails are designed to work well on the Laser 4.7 dinghy, which is much smaller and more maneuverable than a land yacht.
It's possible that a Laser 4.7 sail could be used on a land yacht, but it's likely that the sail would not be optimized for the larger and heavier land yacht. The sail's shape, size, and rigging would likely need to be adapted to work properly on a land yacht, and it may not provide the performance you're looking for.
It's also worth noting that Laser 4.7 sails are typically made from a lighter and more flexible material than land yacht sails, which are designed to withstand the wind and stress of larger and heavier vehicles. Therefore, using a laser 4.7 sail on a land yacht may not be as durable as using sails designed specifically for land yachts.
It's always recommended to consult with experienced sail makers and sailors to get the right sail for your land yacht and get the best out of it. They can help you choose the right sail based on your specific needs and the type of land yacht you have.
