Dear family and friends,
Decided to apply Altex 5 plus on my boat. Never tested before. I have a good friend of mine who is a living legend AKA Azure on this chat. He only accepts Altex 5. That is the reason I am applying it on my boat. Somehow Altex 5 plus claims to have more copper and therefore wondering if anybody here had tried Altex 5 plus and what are the results.
On the another matter, took a sample of the sea in the bay and found huge amounts of fertiliser in it under the microscope.. That could be the reason why our boats are going crazy when it comes to growth. I have destroyed 4 spatulas trying to remove the barnacles.
Anyway any comments on Altex 5 plus would be helpful. Thank you
You have 3 mentions of Altex 5 plus and one mention of Altex 5 (which is 4L can). I assume you have applied Altex 5 plus and got the 10L can. How many coats did you get on trust at least 2? See here prior post after I slipped 11-15 March 2-24 with Altex 5. A mate in the bay was slipping at the similar time and he was strongly advised to use Carboline 3000. I assume he got at least 2 coats from the 10L.

In the above link it is noted that Altex advise that No5 is 20yr old technology while C3000 and No5 plus (they say these 2 are the same) is way more up to date. Seems like guys responding in the above link have had good service from No5 plus. C3000 is cheaper than No5 plus.
Of interest maybe is my recent experience with Altex 5 after slipping 11-15 March 2024. The below photos 18/6/24. To be fair I only got 1 coat on as "hoped" to get 2 with just 4L - but the area of full keel and rudder of the 25ft clunker was too much and I stuffed up there. 1 coat is a waste of time but I thought it would last more than 3 months. I am not into Propspeed. Yacht has not left mooring yet as trying to get upgraded diesel installation finished off - wet weather a complete PITA - gear morse cable to finish off at gear lever end, then starter cables, diesel loom to panel, prime (fuel and water), flash it up. Next slipping I will use C3000 or whatever Altex have better at the time.
Interesting re fertiliser - assume that is due to all the rains?
28/7/24. 14 L of Altex 5 plus with some magic will be applied. will update the photos in August 2025..
Let's hope for the best.

assume you mean 28/5/24?
You all mention 1 or 2 coats!
THE MANUFACTURERER RECOMMENDS THAT THREE COATS BE APPLIED WITH A ROLLER.
This is to get the required thickness for the ablative coating!
With the 3 coats I easily get 2 to 3 years which is a saving of at least one slipping and a tin of Altex 5 if you only put 1 or 2 coats on.
I'm moored in the Camden Haven Inlet which for us is a very foul river.
10 litres of Altex 5 gives 3 rolled coats on my Compass 28. I've had excellent results for the past 7 years in Port Phillip.
Cheers, Graeme
