This was front page news in the Bundaberg rag two days ago. A 318 berth marina in the Burnett Heads basin.

Anybody who knows the basin well will say "It ain't gonna happen!!"

The max depth in the basin is only about 2 m and under the metre of mud slop I am told is a sheet of bed rock that slopes away under the river.

The shore side development is entirely possible but the marina will not look anything like the artist's impression on their web site. The basin is just not big enough.

Wasn't there a marina in that spot before?

Bundaberg Port Marina is not full at the moment, so hard to see where all those boats are going to come from to fill it.

Somebody has been paid a mozta to paint pictures of boats in a marina. Or did they just superimpose the picture of another marina?

It is amazing what you can do with AutoCAD. They have been talking about this marina for years.

If you look closely all [except a few] of those boats are motor boats under 10m in length, that would work with the depth above the rock!

You got it nsw. If it does get built, I doubt there will be many yachts going in there.

Super rich Asian couple buys Great Keppel Island for more than $50m,
promissed to spend another $600m to develop .
But The Australian Financial Review understands the Asian power couple has agreed to buy not only the resort site but also a much larger adjoining portion, with a golf course and villas on it, taking the combined landholding sold by Mr Agnew to almost 1000 hectares.
Aus government contributing $50m to provide Island with water and electricity . All starts next year if approved .

Semi-Autocad. The buildings, vegetation and people on the docks have a different shadow angle to the boats...

I'm just waiting for it to come up for sale again, buy it and have just one mooring for my boat and build a 1,000,000 head mud crab ranch!
