Hello all,
I usually spend my time in the windsurfing or wingfoiling sections on here. But I've been rolling around the idea of some sort of dingy to get the kids (14 and 17) out sailing and also for me to be having fun in under 15kts. My attempts to get the kids windsurfing haven't been very successful, I think because they just haven't experienced the joy of wind propulsion like I did growing up around boats. I've raced/cruised keelboats and sailed monohull dinghies quite extensively growing up but didn't have the space to keep one.
Seems like there are always a few Hobie 16s for sale around here for well under the cost of a new foil. From what I see people do solo sail them and you can load a couple nimble teenagers on there as well so long as everyone doesn't mind getting wet.
Any thoughts from the brain trust would be welcome. Oh I'm 95kg and pretty fit.
Wind rush 14, was the solution for us. The kids enjoyed it,I loved it, perfect for 1adult 1kid. Solo or 2bigger kids. Cheap, parts available if necessary.
I should explain I'm in Washington state USA, so Aussie specific recommendations are unlikely to be available here.
