Greeting comrades,
I am working on the little trailer cat (it is always getting some love) and hope to have revisions done and check her out this weekend with a view to getting back to the Whitsundays in a couple of weeks. One of my worries is leaving a nice flat catamaran trailer on the back of the car tempting thieves whilst we head out for a spell of reminiscing with old haunts. Has anyone left their car and trailer at a caravan park or similar and paid some money to do so? Any ideas?
cheers
Phil
Kankama,
In 2021, we left our mini-caravan at Loop Road Storage and Parking in Jubilee Pocket, whilst we chartered a boat for week from Airlie Beach. I forget the rates. It is basically a paddock behind a locked gate for storing trailers, vehicles etc., which worked out fine for our purposes.
Seaforth is another option. About $10 per night for security parking at sailing club next to boat ramp. Caretaker has his weekend in the middle of the week, so watch out for that. Bit of a high tide boat ramp for bigger boats. Great boat friendly caravan park. Stock up before you get there. Not fancy like Airlie though.
We have left car and trailer at Airlie boat ramp for a couple of weeks with no dramas but 5 day maximum stay is a bit off putting.
Thanks for the input guys. It seems like the Pocket guys are full but a caravan park near the ramp has space. Cheers all
