Evening learned folk! Been busy getting this project up and running and thankfully found new issues and checking them off one by one. Today's one has me worried.. I'm in the process of overhauling the engine on my swing mooring and took off my heat exchanger for some much needed love. Thing is the dripless seal vent was attached to the exhaust outlet and in my 'get it done' way I realised after disassembly that hose was free flowing water into the bilge. After panicking for about 5 min I've managed to secure the open ended part of the hose slightly above the waterline and subsequently stopped. My question is - will that suffice for a couple of days while I'm away sorting it out.
cheers!
As long as it's secured properly it should work, I'd be inclined to put a bung of some sort in it as well just to be sure. And check the bilge pump is working too just to be double sure
I had the same dilemma, I snapped my toothbrush in half and used it as a plug then cable tied it above the waterline, might have been a bit paranoid given on the amount of cable ties I used.

Didn't bung it at the time but it's directly above the bilge so should be good till I head back to make better provisions for it (and better preparations )
