looking on maps and reading Alan Lucas book on entering this bar, Alan mentions it's possible to enter through Fishermans passage. I've been looking at this for a while and now I've seen him mention it I'm wondering who has done it. I've a fairly shallow draft and may consider it to shave off some time as long as I feel it's do able

How do you do everybody !
Few days ago I read this question in this forum.
I intent to use this passage myself after reading all this horor stories about Wide Bay Bar.
Got 9 m Tahiti ketch with 18 hp engine. So ,3 knots in best conditions.
Here we are.
Desided sail through Fisherman passage.....main reason , if something realy bad happends ,there is more clouse to swim to shore.
( lough as much as you want)
Sail from Rainbow Beach anchorage at 6 in morning couse 10.30 supouse be HW.
With 3 knots speed I ecspekt reach Fisherman Passage about 09.00.
Got there ok. Wind S. About 15 knots. Waves from Ocean.
Contakt Tin Can Bay Cost Guard.
Why ?
No idea. I am foriner, so maybe I have to.
Cost Guard informed that it is not recomended
( Fishman passage not recomended)
I was 1 nmile away.
Scared ****lees ,couse now see clearly braking waves. And it very impresive.
Forget to put any track on navionics. Anyway, when got abrest Inskip point, there were no time no posibilite check charts. Realy interestkng waves.
Shalou : botom see good . Sand mostly.
Waves very chaotic . 1,5 maybe 2 m ocasionaly.
How to meassure anyway.
I try keep offshore breakers and there is breakers to East. So, one got sort of pass in betwen this breakers. As I mention very chaotik waves.
Boat realy rouling.
But nothing fancy.
To watch deepsounder was no time ,need staering , but on , I think ****est spot, I see 3,5 metres.
Then out into deep waters of chanel where have whaile going head on my boat.
Stupid beast !
Technicaly ,shortly, just keep in this coridor between braking waves and supouse to be fine.
If engine quits here..... in this mess set sails would be tricky.
But swim ashore definetly safer.
Acsedently manage to mark one ,,way point,, in middle passage where we sail.
If someone think it can be helpfull, you welcome .
Best regards everyone and pardon my defisancy in english language
